Species Day- Back Bay

Got out for a slow but consistent day in the back bay. Thought with the really low tide the fish would be pushed towards the deeper water. Not sure if they were but there was a decent bite on small to average sides spotties, 1 bone fish, 1 halibut and 1 Midshipman. Not sure why but that fish looks like an alien species and fights about as much as a 5 gallon bucket would. Bonefish gave 2 good runs and came in right around 18" mark. The colorful craw bait got more bites than the mini natural color baits.. Cars were confirmed: 3 red Lamborghinis and 1 green bmw

That whatever it was fish was like something in a nightmare I once had, and like you said that was one of the biggest Bone fish I’ve seen caught.

That's a nice way to fish. Nice day. I started SUP last year and have been thinking of bringing a rod and reel along. What reels are you using?

Nice Bonefish and entertaining vid... That bone fish may have been a IGFA all tackle world record.. The existing one is 1-pound, 9-ounce fish) was 15.75 inches long with an 8-inch girth...

@kastmaster Im using the Diawa Fuego 1000, cheapest saltwater reel that i can just beat on.
@Midnightpass i think Risentide holds that record and its mostly just there bc no one else weighs them in. When i fished with Chris on the bay i watched him land one that im 99% sure was larger.

None the less, a nice fish… I wish we got the Atlantic/Caribbean or South Pacific varieties here… Those things just smoke your drag… I’ve caught a few in the Caribbean, and they are fun…

Right on! those midshipman are such ugly fish. They look like aliens and have some nasty chompers.

Yeah one of my clients Brent Evans has the IGFA record but we have caught many that were bigger. He was one of those IGFA record hunters and really wanted to weigh it in. It's a pain in the butt to try and find a certified scale while keeping the fish alive. The longest I've measured was a little over 19" but seems like every year they get a little bit bigger.
