Re: Mission Beach 2-26
Thanks for the report and the pics, Kastmaster. Question for you - do you use kastmasters for perch year-round, or do you switch to other baits during certain times of the year? FWIW, I caught my pb perch on a Livetarget Erratic Shiner last February...a pregnant female. Anyway, go get some more!

Re: Mission Beach 2-26
Thanks Calmwater. I alternate surf fishing with KM and jerkbaits and haven't targeted perch outside of the Dec - March period. Hopefully, I can add more to the discussions here as I gain experience. I tend to fish the bay or piers in summer due to crowds, so I know I have been missing out on the sand crab / corbina / croaker party, but I aim to remedy that this year. The list of species I have caught locally on KM includes barred surfperch, shortfin corvina, macks, spotties, halibut, queenfish, Bonefish (!), barred sand bass, jacksmelt, lizardfish, needlefish. Waiting on my first 'cuda. Sharp hooks and tight lines.

Wow, kastmasters are some kind of lure. Thanks for the reply. If you decide to try the YFC/corbina thing, feel free to contact me for any tips.

I uploaded a photo to chatGPT and asked it to produce a Gyotaku style image from it.
