Hit the lagoon down the street this morning. Wanted to see how the Bixby would handle eel grass and maybe catch a couple fish. Bixby worked pretty well, but i did have to stop once to clear the prop (Old Town pedal drive needed at least 5 clearings every time in the lagoon). Love how the battery fits right in place under the seat.
Fishing was good. 9 total, which isn’t amazing. But, 4 different species! 6 spotties, a sandy, short halibut (17in), and a croaker that taped out at 20in and weighed 3lb 10oz. Croaker took me for a little ride every time he would run. Must have spun me around 3-4 times. Only 5lb flouro on the BFS, so every time he ran i got nervous. 1/8 underspin with a Zman shrimp did most of the heavy lifting, while a 1/8 neckbreaker with a bootyspin caught a couple. Great day.

Nice spotfin! It’s fun to pull the surf species out of the back of the lagoon this time of year. I got a nice Corbina out of there about a month ago on my float tube.
