12/30/25-SD River
My last fishing trip of 2025 was supposed to be yesterday , after fishing the deep waters of Lake Murray and coming up with 7 small & even tiny bass. Example: a few whoppers from yesterday at Murray...ha ha
I know it was still fun, but decided to take a
chance and hit the SD River one more time. I knew what to expect as I arrived there was that green film on the water and the water was very stained, worst than my last trip. Anyway, I threw lots of baits with blades like underpins and actual blade baits and then went to crank baits and a few jerk baits. I figured with the water so stained the was mud best bet. After no takers, I decided to flip a little just for the heck of it. I found an old Googan Trench hawg on the bottom of my tackle bag and hooked it on. After a lot of work, I finally pulled a small , but fat bass out of some sunken branches and the skunk was off. I was jazzed as to say the least! I decided to give it another 30 minutes and started flippin a craw bait (as I got a 6lb'er (12/15 post)on my last adventure) and flipped over next to the tulles and the line immediately started coming back to me. Set the hook quickly and landed a nice long one.. a few ounces under 5 lbs. A few more casts and it was time to head home.
That was fun despite a lot of work, but a little better way to end the year.

Way to go, to close out the year.
I’m sure you’ll start next year on a high note, you usually do.
The adventures of VINNIE BASS stay tuned.

It does seem that every day in life is an adventure. I guess one of them for me is trying
to catch some bass before it comes the day when I can no longer fish anymore.
Best wishes and tight lines always my friend.
