South SD bay 12/17
Decided on a rare trip to the salt. Not my usual because I have so much tied up in my fresh water gear and the salt doesn't exactly play well with them. Still i figured a sh!t ton of thorough rinsing should take care of it for one trip.
I put in at J street marina and fished the grass and dropoff areas into the channel. Final count was 22 spotties and a bonefish. All in all pretty fun, but I could live without the hour of rinsing and cleanup after. I tried to get a picture of the bonefish but it wriggled out of my hand as I was trying to dig out my phone lol

That sounds like a lot of fun, Dan. And those fish fight pretty well too. Glad to see you out catching fish as always and thanks for sharing.
I’m afraid if I fish saltwater, I may never go back to a lake ha ha. Tight line always buddy.

Hey Dann nice meeting up with you at the ramp. We also had a good day even after getting very lost in the fog and ending up at the cays. We nailed over 40 spotties and one confused halibut between both of us on my boat. It was the first time my neighbor ever experienced such a bite and had a great time.

Nice seeing you too, and thanks for the advice. Yeah I stayed pretty close to the shore for several hours since it was my first time there, and I was a bit lost. Besides I didn't want any boats plowing into me. That fog was thick!1Fishdude wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 12:14 pm Hey Dann nice meeting up with you at the ramp. It is crazy how the fog can limit visibily even a couple hundred yards from shore. Been there. As for worrying about your gear, buy a Daiwa CC 80. Two minutes to rinse and will never rus
There's nothin' wrong with goin' nowhere, baby
But we should be goin' nowhere fast.....
