Mission Beach 12/21

Post by jwacky »

Absolutely beautiful morning at Mission Beach 8-)

It actually started a bit messy and a bit slow; current was swirling and the waves were crashing a little hard. Took almost 45 minutes to get any action and when I did, it was a perch about the size of my pointer finger!

Glad I stuck it out because as the tide came in everything else calmed down. The bite picked up significantly and I had a 10+ catch day. The current still pulled a bit to the south but both the tide and swells were relatively calm considering how far it was coming in and the water was clean. The sun even came out for the last 30-45 minutes. Seems like it’s been forever since a morning at the cost hasn’t been covered in dense fog.

Mussels and lugworms continued to work well. All perch today, mostly small to medium, and one large 12” that I could probably stretch to 13”, haha.

Now to keep an eye on this incoming storm, and hope to get a couple sessions in over the next week.

Happy holidays, all!
