Whats a good setup for shoreline fishing? Santee and other SD lakes. Do you guys use a fluorocarbon leader for Cats?

I’ve never gone as far to use fluoro. Cats are not line shy at all.
I don’t catfish as much as I used to but for soaking bait, I got into just a sliding egg sinker directly inline with the hook. Casts better than a swivel with leader. But even better if you aren’t worried about casting as far as you can, in a lake, I like to fly line the bait with no weight. All this can very with how big of cats your targeting and how much bait you are using. If your fishing for stockers, obviously smaller bait more weight. If you are throwing a whole fillet of a horse mackerel out for the elusive big blue, you can get away with fly line etc.

Small hook like size 4. Chunk of shrimp, no weight. Cast it out and leave the bail open, watch the line. Simple enough. The stocked cats just make laps in the local lakes.... Use two rods if you can... 8-12# gear
