11-19 Sanity check Solana beach

Post by Jteo »

Finally headed north. I struggle reading the beach in PB wondering if I lost the ability or if it was just that smooth structure wise. Welp there was definitely a lot more to read in Solana. Caught 8 perch all in the average model one pushing 10 but no dinks or bait pickers.

And finally caught something not a perch and man I forgot how fun a non perch bite this guy absolutely slammed the sandworm on pretty much the drop. Was tons of fun on the ultralight trout set up.!

All in all 9 fish in 3 hours... Great day!

Very nice! I like Solana Beach a lot; the beach itself, surrounding area, etc. We go to Fletcher Cove often on family beach days, and I've fished it twice with success.

It's the first place I sight fished Corbina. It's rocky right now but had the beach to myself besides birds, seals, and surfers.

What a great day. Nothing better than getting slammed by the YFC...it always seems they are on the way somewhere :) I love fishing Solana Beach this time of year. One of my favorite times is at high tide, especially astronomical high tides and just walk to the bottom of the ramp and fish there. The water comes right up to the ramp...and so do the perch!

That's the tide I fished it was up to the bluff caught the pictured perch from the bluff. There's something about it. Not usually a crowd the mix of sand and rock. Even the sound of the rocks as the waves go out. I will say the PB walkers are much more social but the perks are many!

Yeah, even on its busiest days the crowd is usually pretty close to the ramp area, and its a short walk to plenty of open space to some really good fishing! Lots of yummy food options within walking distance and generally easy parking. Great spot!
