El Capitan 9/28
Had a really fun day at El Cap with Chris (@Pourboy ) and his friend Brad. Final count was 17. One jig fish, and everything else was topwater. A few dinks but most were 1-2 pound clones with 3 of them over 3 lbs.
They weren't busting aggressively, but I was just casting around in the coves and they were coming up for it.
Fun day with friends on the lake.

Re: El Capitan 9/28
Thanks for the report and sounds like a good day. I want to hit up El Cap, but I have a couple thinks I want to do to my tube first.

Re: El Capitan 9/28
El Cap is going to get fired up with all the pressure off that lake.
I need to get out there.
Just remember be SAFE out there, less pressure means less help if needed.

Hey Dan that was a super fun time on the lake. You definitely outfished us on that day but it was still a blast. I'll put a link to the video when it comes out. Cheers!

I've lost a couple too. This time I got smart and ordered 3 from tackle warehouse, and I have the receipts to prove it! They're mine I tell you...MINEFisheromen wrote: Mon Sep 29, 2025 9:42 am Where did you find that Gunfish? I lost two just like it!![]()

Re: El Capitan 9/28
I don't know about that. I caught most of them in that first little cove and most were smallish. I think you guys picked up better quality. I also stayed a couple of hours after you guys left, and picked up a couple more.Pourboy wrote: Mon Sep 29, 2025 1:11 pm Hey Dan that was a super fun time on the lake. Always a blast fishing with you Chris, and it was a really beautiful day, and thankfully not too hot.

What are you doing to it?

First I'm replacing my 30# with a 45# thrust motor, a little deck work and oar placement. I purchased just the motor, a lot cheaper then a whole TM even used. I want to make sure I can buck the wind. The deck has a little space that seems to suck items off the deck and into the water. Going to set up the oars to be fins, I used to have a fin mounted to one.

Re: El Capitan 9/28
Can you post some pics of your pontoon one of these days? I’ve got one I’m looking to rig up myself. Mine doesn’t have a basket or motor mount on the back, so I think I’ll be using a milk crate on the back to serve both purposes. Just looking for a simple setup to bring out to the reservoirs a few times a year. I did Barrett on it with just the oars, and the paddle back with the oars was a killer in the wind haha. El Cap has also inspired me to get my setup dialed in…

Re: El Capitan 9/28
I had already taken the trolling motor off. it mounts on the motor mount in the rear.
