Float tubes are a convenient and affordable way to get on the water, and finally get to those fish that you can't reach from shore. Discuss float tubes, outfitting float tubes for fishing, and float tube fishing.

All pads and d rings glued on, motor, battery, fish finder and rod holders mounted. Fold up wheels installed. Swing away bait tray mounted. Yep, she's ready for her maiden voyage tomorrow.

So with these high end tubes, what’s the reason for not building out a kayak for roughly the same cost? Why give up the extra maneuverability of a yak?

I can only speak for myself, but I like the feel of fishing from a tube better than fishing from a kayak. I may not be able to go as fast or as far as some but I just love the feel. I also prefer landing fish from a tube and I am not affected by the wind as much for staying in place. My robotic lounge chair is perfect for me.

I have owned both, and while a float tube isn't as fast as a kayak, for me it is far more maneuverable and precise. It is smaller, lighter, easily transportable, and steers completely hands free on the water. Also as I have aged and arthritis has set in, it's far easier to mount than a kayak. There are tradeoffs to each, but I prefer a float tube for sure.

Having fished this one for the first time yesterday, I can say the elevated floor pontoon design is also significantly faster than any other float tube I have seen previously, and I have owned a lot of them in the past 40 years. I'm with @Pourboy , I love my water lounge chair.

Fishfindermounts.com
They offer many types of mounts. They actually started their company to deliver mounts to float tubers. I use the quick release plate and transducer mounts with integrated battery. I can simply disconnect the whole thing for charging and storage. If you contact them they can certainly help with your particular application.

I'm really enjoying this thing, it's probably twice as fast on the water as any other tube I have owned, and over the years I've had a lot of them. Europe has definitely pushed float tube technology much farther than north America.
