Lake Hodges and the City...

Post by Mcfish »

If you're holding your breath waiting for the new dam to be built at Hodges...you will die!!! The City and Toad Glorius got a new estimate on how much the dam will cost and the estimate went up hundreds of millions of dollars...and the City said they won't pay for it! So they won't build a new dam and the State won't let them fix the old one! So, if you like fishing Hodges..what you see is what you'll get....forever it sounds like!

I helped build/install the reinforcing iron @ the lift station at hodges as well as the pedestrian bridge which is one of a kind.
The lift station had so many issues when they installed the new turbine, took them 3 years to get it operational.
Rumors of san v dam leaking, not sure if there is any truth to it but had buddies help build raise that one.
Imo it would be smart to raise the dam and add to the city's water supply but fear the cost would be reflected in our bills. Definitely a bummer how the city's debt has risen so much that cuts and price increases are happening everywhere. A dam project would create jobs but also increase the city's debt.

This same story will play out across the state as many of our dams are reaching 100 years old. Costs to repair and maintain them are ballooning from long periods of inaction.

Years of deferred maintenance and political gridlock have turned what could have been a manageable, routine upkeep project into a ever increasing financial burden.

To paraphrase a well known politician: we are not sending our best people into politics. And that includes the well known guy.
