Canyon 8/15

Post by Bendo »

Another Trip to Canyon Lake. I have been fishing Newport Harbor quite a bit. Easy and close to home. Still I miss the Topwater Bite enough to again, get up at 3:30 am, on the Jump Lagoon by 5:30 am, first Bass, minutes later. All in all a better Topwater trip this time. I had 7 landed by the time the gloom gave way to bright, hot, Sunny skies, all on a 5 inch ZMan Streak mounted to a 4/0 regular wire Spearpoint hook. Those hooks really work great, I only missed two explosive strikes out of 9 blowups. With the Sun, I added a 1/8 ounce Jighead to my Mud Minnow ZMan Streakz and got 5 more Bass out of 8-12 feet of water. All on one bait, which is ready for another trip, packed away in its ziplock bag.

I’m getting my 18 foot Invader up and running, new everything, legendary 39 year old hull.
