Fenton Pond (Otay Valley Regional Park)
Hello. New here (2nd time to around). I searched here and google and didn’t find much.
Anyone fish this spot? I saw a few dudes recently and they say they’re catching bass, carp. Went yesterday and nothing and no signs of fish.
Also. Anyone ever hit up Le May Pond in the same park?
Any info is appreciated.

Its right down the street from me. Looks fishy but It's pretty dead. I've tried it a few times for nada. I've been tempted to stock it myself.

Went back today. Nothing. Tried night crawlers , wax worms, various lures. Some dude said he caught a bluegill a few weeks ago. Maybe I just suck.

I fished those ponds as well as dairy mart pond when I was a kid I heard they had a die off after they sprayed a bunch of pesticides for west Nile the pond I had the most luck was hollister pond but it’s sketchy there and full of bums

Yeah. Agreed. I rode my bike around Hollister a few weeks back and it was definitely sketchy.Bigdog wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:58 pm I fished those ponds as well as dairy mart pond when I was a kid I heard they had a die off after they sprayed a bunch of pesticides for west Nile the pond I had the most luck was hollister pond but it’s sketchy there and full of bums
I remember years ago fishing was good, but you’d also get murdered by mosquitoes. Last two times zero mosquitoes and also zero fish.
Funny you mentioned dairy mart. Went over there first and immediately saw a no fishing sign. A friend of mine in the 90s pulled out huge LMB from there.

When you say Dairy Mart I remember back in 1959 there was a dairy in Mission Valley that I thought was the Dairy Mart location, or is that what you were talking about?

The one we’re talking about is about 1/2 mile from the border. There’s an exit off of the 5 freeway named dairy mart and the pond is to the right as you exit going southbound.vito1023 wrote: Mon Aug 11, 2025 5:53 am When you say Dairy Mart I remember back in 1959 there was a dairy in Mission Valley that I thought was the Dairy Mart location, or is that what you were talking about?
There’s a second pond, but I assumed that it’s part of the same park system and fishing wouldn’t be allowed either.
