Mission bay 8/3
Haven't posted on here in a long time. Finally, I have the chance to start fishing again more than a few times a year. Was out on Mission Bay from 6am to about noon. Bite died at about 10am. Got a total of 28 unless you count the 9 lizardfish. A mixed bag 2 yellowfin croaker, 1 sculpin, 15 (2 legal size) spotties, 10 calico. Overall a good day on the water. Most were caught on the underspin and on gulp minnow.

Re: Mission bay 8/3
The rod is a Cadence CR5 Medium fast 7' and the reel is 3000 size. Can't give you specifics for it, the writing has rubbed off and I can't remember. I had it spooled with 10lb braid with 6lb flouro leader. I had a 3/16oz underspin with a 3in gulp minnow tied on.DarkShadow wrote: Tue Aug 05, 2025 8:48 am Nice variety! What kind of rig are you using for your spinning combo?

Thanks! I finally dialed in the combo that I purchased for rock hopping the jetties here in LA, and I'm glad I went with the slightly heavier rod, as these fish love digging into the rocks upon hookset and getting their head turned is of upmost priority.Rj576 wrote: Tue Aug 05, 2025 12:27 pmThe rod is a Cadence CR5 Medium fast 7' and the reel is 3000 size. Yeah, I fish heavier when I'm fishing around hard structure. But if I'm fishing grass, I have a lot more fun with the lighter setup.
