Midway, huh...
Was just talking to a neighbor about how after a few trips, you feel pretty safe while tubing or kayaking in the bay....then I see the news about some drunk a ss ftard running a 60 foot sportfishing boat into the Midway.
And people don't want to tube the bay because there might be a shark nearby.....

I saw the video.
Thought it was AI generated for a second. "You've gotta have $hit for brains..."
Then I realized computers are smarter than humans. Can't wait till SkyNet takes over.

Seems like the MIdway should have been armed enough to repel the attacker. Can't ever let your guard down.

Re: Midway, huh...
Technically, it might have been a sport drinking boat instead of a sport fishing boat.

Supposed put a dent in the ship....and damage estimated at $100,000.
One of my neighbors is a docent there. Next time I see him, I'll ask if they're gonna use a big ass plunger to pop it out, or what?
And I'm thinking of adding an air horn to my float tube gear, but really...if the guy was so drunk he hit the midway, would he have noticed a loud horn....?

He fell a sleep at the wheel. Too much reefer
There’s been some similar but sober instances over the years. It happens. Long hours. Scary stuff. I’ve woke up to a guy sleeping at the wheel on a head on course with an island. Sleep deprivation is a major thing when working on boats.

Without dragging the kids name through the coals....
I dont know the story as I decided to steer clear from all drama forums for the most part, no idea what is being said...
I have no idea if anyone else has even made this connection....
the captain been in the business for a long time & got his shot while he was young, hes only 40...
Use to own / operate a large sport / charter boat ive frequented many times on 3.5'rs....
Sold it when his yacht service business took-off, mostly Cabo stuff from my understanding.
Now owns a yacht service / captain for hire & was making a killing...
Would imagine those days are coming to an end, or needs to outsource the capt. for hire part..
He had his fare share of struggling with some bad decisions, demons, influenced to make bad choices....
This wasnt a fall asleep while on autopilot scenario, being deep in the harbor...

Re: Midway, huh...
BAC limit for a commercial boat operator is .04% and additional penalties apply if anyone besides the operator was injured. His days as a commercial boat operator are almost certainly over if convicted. Jail time quite possible too.
For non commercial operators, the limit is .08%, even for kayaking and waterskiing. Never heard of anyone getting nailed on a float tube or paddleboard for BUI but I would assume the same applies.
