I fished the surf about 9-10:30 Wednesday July 2 south of Crystal Pier over the low tide at about 9:30 at 1.3ft. A repeat of yesterday - light grass, low waves, plenty of crabs, slow bite, 3 BSP.
I didn’t mention yesterday in my post, thinking I was just being a wimp after not fishing for a few weeks, but the water is colder. A couple surf apps I check say 69-70 degrees. My uneducated guess would be 65-66 degrees.

Weather section of today's SDUT reported 60 temp at Del Mar LG Station at 4 pm yesterday. I thought had to be a typo, no way going to drop that much when I was out Sunday & felt about 68.
The neep tides suck; I'm purposely taking a break this week from the lousy daytime tides & the 4th holiday crowds swarming the beaches. The early evening high tides have some appeal but good luck finding a spot to fish or parking at Mission or Pacific.

Same. Still only beginning to learn to read tide charts and whatnot but from the little I know, morning/evening times aren’t ideal this week (in the windows of time I’d be available) especially considering the holiday crowds. May head out super early Sunday morning, but also just as likely to sit this weekend out and look forward to better conditions next weekend.Perch killer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 7:15 pm Weather section of today's SDUT reported 60 temp at Del Mar LG Station at 4 pm yesterday. To follow up on water temp, reported at 61 yesterday afternoon but Mission reported 67 this morning. Go figure. Agree on the tides, the evening highs will be dicey from a big SW swell tomorrow through weekend. A fishing bud is doing MB this morning, hope to get some feedback.

At least you got on the sand and bit... I to went out in the AM, and the tide did me no favors... We'll get 'em next time...
