Mission Bay
fishing at Mission Bay this week. Got a bunch of bass all different sizes the biggest one was 14 inches. So I decided to throw my drop shot out and put it in the rod holder , so I could eat my sandwich. I was just drifting around with the current and wind when my line started peeling off my fishing reel. I picked up my rod to set the hook it kept pulling drag then broke. Thought I lost my whole setup but when I reeled it in the only thing was missing was my weight. It was a shiny tungsten weight. you think whatever it was ate my weight. Hook and bait we're not touched.

Re: Mission Bay
I hooked something big while drifting in deep water in the big bay...it fought hard for a few seconds, then came off. Reeled up to find my line was chewed nearly to the breaking point above the plain lead torpedo sinker. Figured it was a halibut that grabbed it because it was bouncing along the bottom in 30 feet of water. Too dark to see...but it was moving.....chomp.
There's nothin' wrong with goin' nowhere, baby
But we should be goin' nowhere fast.....

Re: Mission Bay
Other guys complain they buy all these lures and can't catch fish and you guys are getting them to bite sinkers. Well done. Are you using scent on your sinkers? What brand, if I may ask?

Re: Mission Bay
I switched from lead weight to a tungsten weight. The weight is very shiny that's the only thing I can think of. One of those tubular weights so it can cut through the eelgrassGotfish? wrote: Sun Jun 15, 2025 6:12 am Other guys complain they buy all these lures and can't catch fish and you guys are getting them to bite sinkers.
