Anyone fishing up in the Carlsbad/Oside area? Things have seemed pretty whack since the dredging happened. Seen a few guys come out of south Carlsbad with legal halibut but few and far between. Now the sea grass is moving in pretty good. I grew up fishing point Loma and can't seem to get oceanside figured out now that I'm up here.

I’ve been out there five out of the last seven days and I’ve had mixed results. On the shore I’ve caught tons of perch, but no Corbina in the lagoon. I caught a bass on Wednesday and got skunked today. Usually have really good luck around army Navy academy when the water warms up

Carlsbad State Beach (near the campground) is what got me started on loving surf fishing. I was only catching perch (and still have only ever caught perch but my surf fishing career is young!) but it seemed like they were everywhere.

Not sure how helpful this reply is but that is for a sure a nice, uncrowded stretch of beach. The rocks slamming against my ankles started to hurt after a bit but it was worth the success I was having, haha.

I'm not local but on occasion stay a long weekend in Carlsbad Village... I fish the area from the Army Navy Academy and south... I seem to always get something, whether it be perch, corbina or YFC... Winter or summer... If sand crabs aren't present, I buy blood worms at https://pacificcoastbaitandtackle.com/ ... Actually, I like blood worms better, but they are $$.. I use a C-rig... 6# mono main, 3/8oz sinker, #14 swivel, 24" 4# Fluro leader, #8 Owner Mosquito Hook... Light gear but I have caught some pretty big fish with this setup...
