El Capitan April 25 report
Hi all,
Got out to El Capitan this morning for a quick run. Got on the water at 0630 and air was cool, but not too bad. Water was at 64F on the surface. Saw Jeremy ( Corso Enthusiast ) and Dan ( Dannicus ) and we all headed out in our various directions. With the toasty water temp, I tried poking around with a popper for some time, but nothing doing there. Eventually the smaller jerkbait did all my work today. Only got a few fish and nothing bigger than 2 pounds, although when Jeremy and I met back up, I caught a 1 pound 10 ounce fish that really put out a good effort. Water temp was 64F when I got out at 1030 also.
What people probably really want to know is the water level. It's very low. The picture doesn't show it well, I should have taken a picture of the ramp, I'll do that next time. Tight lines everyone.

Thanks for the report!
I might be using my tube more then Barrett with the water level going down. Can you imagine no boats to deal with?

Nope. I caught 11 but I was out there 3 hours longer than those guys Michael. Now go back to your 6 pounder topwater fiesta and laugh at all us poor dink pirates lol.

Re: El Capitan April 25 report
Missed you on Wednesday! Not a dink fest, but no biggie and I only got a limit. Tried new areas, Otay arm, was way too clear for me. Wasted too much time there. Jerk baits and buzz baits.Dannicus wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 4:01 pmNope. I caught 11 but I was out there 3 hours longer than those guys Michael. Re: El Capitan April 25 report
Nice work! Too bad I missed you. Would have been nice to meet some more good people from the site. I saw some guys throwing topwater in the back with no success. Could be a bit early for the good TW action, unless your name rhymes with OtayMichael =D

Re: El Capitan April 25 report
I tried double willow leaf spinner for a good hour after we quit throwing cranks, with some good accurate cast on some good looking rock piles and points. Nothing, nada. Maybe I should pick up one of those with 4 blades like yours? The shad I saw spawning were much smaller this week, like the size of you blades.CorsoEnthusiast wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 2:39 pm Was a fun little morning sesh! Glad you had a nice day. Hopefully I see you out there sometime.
