Jennings late report

Post by vito1023 »

Sorry for the late report but I was having some problems getting on SDFISH
Last Sunday my fish bud and I decided to go and check the repairs he had done on his boat, we didn’t think we would catch any bass because we’ve found the structure in the past to just eat up ours lures, but the main thing was to check repairs on his boat.
To our surprise there was only three boats out, we heard that Trout were still biting so we brought our trout rods Incase, we wanted to catch something, we decided to drift for awhile and we ended up across the lake by the campgrounds we ended up drifting up against some deep rock slide and we decided to fish from the boat while resting against some rocks we tied up to a overhang and began hitting one after another on underspins between the two of us we boated nine bass one trout lost. A very large estimated at 6 pounds+ bass kept coming up to us 5 to 10 feet from the boat teasing us and then swimming back out to deeper water and then proceeded to do it to us over and over again, totally frustrating but in the end we boated the 9 bass and about 7 that came unbuttoned at the boat all jumping and shaking our lures.
The reason for the post was that we were leaving and a guy, Jason was his name and he showed us a 12 pounder that he caught and several others close to 10 lbs each he had caught in the past three weeks, we didn’t realize there were such big fish in Jennings.
You don’t usually hear reports of bass on the SDFISH for Jennings not that many Trout reports either.
The fish are there and the fishermen aren’t, hope this gives you some ideas for fishing.

On another post I posted yesterday my friend would like to replace his broken fish finder, he’s got up to $600 for unit I’ve been looking for him as he’s less computer savvy than me.
We would like to find one with SideScan please see my other post.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.

On the FF…I was headed into BassPro 15 months ago with every intention of buying a Humminbird outfit that seemed to have all the features I required. Luckily the staffer was familiar with both the Humminbird and also the Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 73sv, 7" Keyed-Assist Touchscreen Chartplotter. He pointed out for about $100 extra I was getting touch screen capability plus one or two other worthy upgrades in the Garmin. I have to say I’m very pleased I spent that extra money. It was on sale at $500 back then but is no longer close to that price there. I did just find a new model on ebay tho for $599. Check it out. It also came with transducer, cable, and bracket.

There are jumbos in Jennings, you can cruise around and see them like a bass pro aquarium. When the bite is on, most won’t post. I know alot of people are against bait fishing but Jennings is a great crawdad lake. You can definitely hit Barrett plus numbers on a good day with a lot of quality fish on few good spots. Of course, making your own bait…that would be an expensive day if you were buying dads.

Thanks JWall, I was leaning towards that very same one, I’m glad you’re liking it.
Curious if it’s easy to learn and do you use the side scan much, I told him we have to get the sidescan and I would chip in half $300
Thanks

Have to admit I’m not using it to its potential. Yet. Almost always in split screen with down scan and chartplotter watching contour lines. It is super easy to change with the touch screen tho and its very bright and clear.

I was surprised I thought trout plants were done for the year and they would be planting Catfish.
Maybe I should have fished some trout patterns.
