Tidelands Sunday
Only got seven spotties, but a nice day on the water.
Three of the bass were decent sized, 13 to 14 inches.
Didn't to get pics of all of them, but at the end of the day I wish I had, to show the color range. One was brown and white, this one was medium, and the biggest was a brilliant orange and brown.
Saw some kayakers and boaters land a few halibut, and I did as well. About 3 seconds after that shot, an osprey dive-bombed and tried to grab the fish...but I saw him coming and lowered the rod tip. The 'but dove down, and the osprey hit the water right in front of me, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing, as it came up empty.
I got splashed and saw the disgust in the bird's eyes as it took off. The attempt confounded me, and I nearly dropped my phone in the water and failed to get a picture or video.
I waited a couple minutes until the bird had moved off to circle a nearby boat. The halibut knew what was up, and hung out right under my tube. Was able to bring his head up next to the tube and unhook the lure with my forceps.
There were also some stingrays gettin' busy on the surface...Apparently the osprey knew better than to interrupt their dirty dancing.

Re: Tidelands Sunday
I was out on Saturday, saw the rays as well. Those osprey have no shame! Had a nice streak jigging in 35 ft just north of Tidelands. That was about it.

[attachment=0]Osprey 2025 2.jpgI was out on Sunday as well. (Video is just coming out today) The ospreys are crazy! Not only did I have the one pull the fish out of my hand, but saw one rob a little kid of his trout at Lake Poway this week as he was pulling it out of the water. Not sure what's up with that as of late. Thanks for the post!

That pic has to be recognized nationally if not globally. Literally a National Geographic moment. That could be the cover photo for the ca dfg

Re: Tidelands Sunday
The video of it went viral on Instagram. Currently over 225K views! I had a photographer email me with the extracted hi-res photo from the video. I now have it on the wall of my office. For sure a 1 in a million shot.

Re: Tidelands Sunday
Seems like someone should get some sponsorship from whatever brand camera was used on this production.
