Gaff finish

Not sure where to post this topic, but anyone know what’s the best brand and type of varnish to use on a bamboo gaff that I got from a yard sale.

It’s all completed but there’s no varnish on the bamboo section and none on where the tied cord to the gaff head, but overall, it’s in very good condition.

I just want to finish it off with that glossy look and able to stand in salt water environment.

I just use the polymer resin (Bondo brand) you buy at Home Depot/Lowe's and it does just fine
