Crappies are on the move.
Despite it is gonna be colder but crappie already on the move from deep to their spawning site. Past weekend a guy told me he caught probably 30-40 crappie on the spot that I usually found them when first start moving. The next night I visited my usual spot and after figuring it out the depth and where finally got some of them. Not the number nor quality yet, most are about 12” with a couple of 14” hanging out tight to the cover.
My prediction is within a week or so they will be more slab and wild spread feeding. Get yourself ready ppl.

When do crappie typically spawn around these parts? Do they have the same timing as bass?Just_Bass wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 9:47 pm Despite it is gonna be colder but crappie already on the move from deep to their spawning site. I don’t know about other but my area which is colder at night, I expect to see full force, huge slab around mid February. They will spread out in wide area and pretty aggressive.

Re: Crappies are on the move.
It was better for the last two nights, caught probably 30 each night. They are not wide spread yet but crappie nibble plus a right color lure can get them to bite easier. They are still full of eggs so I am not sure if they already spawning or just gathering around. All released for success spawning season.
