Psyche!
Legit carp on jig. Thumped it just like a bass.

Re: Psyche!
Damn! Nice one! Used to get carp bycatches on dads back in the day at Loveland. I think they get to a certain size they start eating anything. We’d get them at the river on big goldfish while flat head fishing too.

Re: Psyche!
That gotta be fun, I also caught them on jig, Senko Fatika even jerkbait before. The one that was fun was at lake Perris on 4lb line about 20+lb

Re: Psyche!
I've caught the occasional catfish while bass fishing, but had no idea that carp would ever do this! I guess even at my advanced age, you really do learn something new everyday.

Re: Psyche!
I catch a few catfish every years with bass lure, especially when they are spawning, but carp on very rare occasions. Not to hijack OP thread but here some of mine.Dannicus wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:41 am I've caught the occasional catfish while bass fishing, but had no idea that carp would ever do this! Re: Psyche!
Im mean, ive caught lots of them on creature flies on purpose. So a jig can just be considered a giant fly. I wish i could catch them on bass gear on purpose.

Re: Psyche!
Years ago after catching a bass on a jerkbait, my body Joe made a cast in the same area and we thought he had a huge bass,
but ended up being a big carp which was very surprising to me that it hit a jerk bait. I caught a 25lb carp on a senko at Poway
and for a few minutes thought I had a huge bass also(but it was a fun fight on 8lb test).
Crazy carp at times must be pretty hungry and tired of sucking up junk off the bottom to hit bass related baits ha ha

Re: Psyche!
I was fishing Lake Casitas about 10 years ago, and was getting fish to go on jigs. Suddenly, I get your typical jig thump and for a split second, I think I have my PB bass on.
But, you fish long enough and you can tell what you have on the other line. Catfish fight different than carp who fight different from bass.
Definitely got the adrenaline running tho.

Re: Psyche!
Ive been messed up by carp on crankbaits several times over the years. Fun but frustrating when you realize you HAVEN'T hooked your bass of a lifetime!

Re: Psyche!
I got cranked at Otay a while back. Fouled on the out side of the mouth. Thought it was a jumbo on a big glass rod.
