And yet there’s guys that eat the fish out of the river. I guess there’s a natural flavor ha ha
Yuck!

Way to go Vin. Toad. What part of the river do you prefer to fish..The valley or east county ponds?

Remember the old saying..."Go West young man"....well pretty sure that saying was not related to fishing. Actually most of SD river
fishing wasthe western part of the river in Mission Valley. Especially before they built everything up and plastic worms, spinnerbaits
and crank baits were all you needed to catch a number of bass down there and some fat ones. I landed a 6lb bass west of Texas
street(now called Qualcomm way)many years ago on a spinnerbait which was a beast compared to most of the bass there. I remember
often fishing Lake Miramar and on the way home, I would even stop off at Texas street just to catch some more bass(crazy eh?).
Anyway.....I now fish east of that area mostly. I stop by our old work place every few months and wished I could have fished in the
little lake you were lucky enough to fish in. :-)
Best wishes and tight lines always Rob.

Damn Vinny, Nice fish! Believe it or not my PB 12lb 8oz bass came out of the river just east of the Carlton Oaks Golf course way back in '87. Used to get a steady stream of 5-7lbrs from behind the drive in back when RCP still had about 5 or 6 different ponds in that part of the river. Ah, the good ol days before the shiner fishermen cleaned those ponds out and before the homeless too over there

That is a heck of a fish! 12lbs 8 oz.....WOW!
Yeah...lots of shiner fishermen sure did a number on a lot of those ponds over the years. I just have landed 4's 5's and 6's
up until Halloween....but none of my fish were on live bait. Noting wrong with guys who use it, as my favorite live bait many decades ago was crawdads, but it is more of a challenge for me not to use live bait.
Tight lines buddy :-)

So are the ponds behind the drive void of life? Have they made a comeback? Last time I fished back there was in a canoe and the fishing was not great.
There is a lot of water to cover and long ago there was a steady stream of decent bass being caught.

There are definitely good ones in the river. And you're right, even the 1-2 pounders fight extra hard there.
