I'm so full of hope and dread I may have to stop fishing.

Largemouth, smallmouth, or striped bass...talk about bass fishing specific topics here.

I'm so full of hope and dread I may have to stop fishing.

Post by Dannicus »

A few years ago COVID hit and I closed my business, sold my large 4 bedroom home, and decided to live out my retirement years free and easy in an RV. Since then I have fished an average of 4 days per week until...

A couple of months ago I looked at my old, well-worn travel trailer, and decided I didn't want to brave another winter in it...which lead to researching, shopping for, buying, upgrading, registering, and moving into what will possibly be my last home. Unfortunately it also meant no fishing for over a month.

I have since gone into serious fishing withdrawals henceforth to be known as Acute Hyperspastic Micropterus Nigricans Apopoplectica Syndrome, leaving me justifiably concerned.

Will I still be able to fish? Will I catch any? What if I never find the pattern on Murray again? Should I just throw in the proverbial smelly old scale and scent stained fishing towel?

Anyway, I am planning to muster my courage, put aside my near paralysing fears, and try an outing at Murray tomorrow. While you may have enjoyed your time away from my fishing reports, your thoughts and prayers for my success, or failure will be interestingly read, and possibly acknowledged. :)

Hope to see some of you out there.
Dan

Hi Dan,

The struggle is real. I too go through a horrible withdrawal at the end of September when they close Barrett for the season. I am told there are other bodies of water that hold the very same fish as Barrett, just with a different level of cooperation. Through the support of friends, I have made it out to one of those other places and I can report it's possible to come back. Sending you strength and hope in this difficult time. I wish I didn't have to pretend to work tomorrow, I'd be happy to be there.

So sorry to hear of what you have been going through. Sometimes things in life at times just knock you down and it seems so hard
to get back up on your feet. It's not going to be easy and it is not fun by any means. I know you have that motivation in you just
like you do when you are out there fighting the elements to catch bass after bass, to dust yourself off, be strong and bounce back up.
Get yourself back on the water and start fishing again. You know that many people are sending their best wishes to you that things
will fall back into placeand you can move forward. And if the bass are not biting too well tomorrow, you will catch them with a
vengeance on you next trip. Best wishes and hang in there as the storm will pass.

Just stay out of the middle of the lake where I fish (just kidding!)
Tight lines always buddy :-)

You do realize that whole post was a tongue in cheek thing right Vinny? I am fine, got a brand new Travel Trailer and am happy to get back to fishing. In reality I am living a great life!

WOW!
Glad you are fine and life is good.
I somehow in reading through your post thought it was in someway a cry for help. I have not seen you at the lake and thought
maybe something was wrong and just wanted to offer signs of support. I guess I got too sentimental and hope you have a
great day on the lake. And remember......if I am there...stay the hell out of the middle where I am fishing!
Just kidding buddy :-)

That's a very pretty fish! Fishing withdrawals SUCK!! After I recovered from my shoulder replacement over the winter, i went from fishing twice a week to barely fishing at all until about a month ago. The shakes, fever, vomiting, and night sweats are the worst part!
