AZ Gila Trout
Recently moved to Flagstaff AZ from San Diego, and I figured y'all would find this interesting. I have been fishing Oak Creek Canyon heavily, catching wild browns, stocked rainbows, and native Gila trout. The Gilas seem to love dries, especially hopper reaction bites when the fly hits the water. Other than this, pats rubber legs, zebra midges, and san juans have been consistent. The area is stunning as the creek winds down from the ponderosa pine forests of Flagstaff to the red rocks of Sedona.

Pretty Fish , Beautiful area . Years ago did some backpacking and fishing along Oak creek and tributarys . Had to put gear/ packs in plastic bags and swim through many spots . You could see and feel the fish trying to pull the hair off your legs . Funny but I tried to see them with open eyes under water and chemically burned my eyeballs . Took 3 to 4 days to clear up , very annoying and painful . Alkaline ? acidic ? It did not taste bad filtered . Thanks for the report . WR

Re: AZ Gila Trout
Thanks for the report. Been looking for a trout area other than the Sierras that's a reasonable drive from SD, might have to give it a try. Lee's Ferry is a bit far for me and you need to rent a boat (expensive these days).
