You’re correct, almost 4 decades is > 11. One is a LONG time ago, and the other is just after the dinosaurs were wiped out

That sarcasm is tricky. Just like letting go of things that happed over ten, or even forty years ago

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
Two separate items.
1. Manny is a 'doosh,' and as you affectationly confirmed, he's 'your' doosh.
Separate thought:
2. You haven't won a World Series since the team was conceived.
I'm beginning to think that the animosity that is trying to be created from San Diego fans is because all your professional teams except the Padres have left....
To Los Angeles.
It's like those kids who have a chip on their shoulder because their dad left to get cigarettes and never came back.
Cannot wait for the party at the Gaslamp if you guys win today's game 3. It'll be your World Series.

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
But, but, but championships!!!! This thread was literally NEVER a discussion about who’s won what. Congratulations on another detour from the conversation. Sound like a Patriots fan. Animosity trying to be created by padres fans?! Your manager is trying to drum up his own fake woe, is us, narrative. Ohtani can flip his bat into the padres dugout after an HR (zero issues with it, big moment, celebrate it), but playing with fans in the outfield after an amazing catch warrants the true blue coming out. Ben Higgins of 97.3 The Fan was there, and his entire section yelled expletives for the entire… I mean until they left pouting in the 7th. LA created the animosity, not the other way around.
What in gods name does any other sports team have anything to do with the padres dodgers series?! SMDH if San Diego wanted the chargers here we would have voted to pay for their stadium!! Instead we sent Felicia to where she belongs. The gutter
Party in the gaslamp, because of a win? Have you ever been here? Actually, that’s just called Tuesday. We don’t buid stadiums in the middle of nowhere with zero amenities in sight

The fact this man is open about not being a fan of Manny makes this all so much funnier

Again... Not happy about the results of last nights game... But the Padres did what was necessary to win... Congrats for the win.. Hoping tonight the Dodgers will fare better..

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
What about that high IQ base running by Machado?
Veering into the throwing lane to prevent Freeman from making that accurate throw to Rojas was a pretty smart play. It reminded me of the Reggie Jackson play in game 4 of the '78 World Series.

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
Yeah, somewhere close by, there’s a hotel full of spanked a$$es that are probably still pretty red right now. I waited just so you could get your Look what Manny did take in. It was a legit legal play, and also is not reviewable. If you watched the game, and the post game show, you’d have seen Big Papi talk about what a heads up play that was. Same with Adam Jones this morning. I can see why a dodgers “fan” might be upset since most/all don’t seem to know baseball rules like they’ve thought they did their entire lives. The amount of people crying about how he was out of the base path is comical. I didn’t hear dodgers fans saying mookie should have been out for deciding on his own he should make a detour to the mound. It’s sad he’s such garbage right now he just assumed he was out again. He’s a good player, hopefully he bounces back in ‘25

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
So this play reminded you of the play last night, where instead of the shortstop, the ball was hit behind the runner to 1st. Then, without looking at freeman, manny gets to the grass (which is what they’re taught, but I guarantee you knew that part already) and heads to second. The ball hits him in the shoulder from the back, not his thigh from the front. Manny was part of the play. Reggie was not. Yeah, almost identical scenarios thereDarkShadow wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 9:52 am What about that high IQ base running by Machado?

. No, when the Padres win tonight, it won’t be their World Series. That won’t come for a couple weeks
So apparently you missed the part where I said that Manny's play was not only legal, but also smart.
Reading comprehension is probably not a strong suit with you.
And with today's win for the Dodgers, you don't see us invading the streets celebrating.
As my college baseball coach said once, "act like you've been there before."

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
Good game for the Dodgers... Now it's back to LA (Where there might be a few more Dodger fans that have access to tickets in to the stadium
)... I hope the Boys In Blue can keep the bats hot and the pitching as good...

“How about that high IQ base running by Machado?” Ray Charles could read through your intent with that question. Yet you pretend to be giving manny an attaboy so you can make a reading comprehension dig, and mention college baseball in the same breath as a sign of your intelligence and baseball prowess. Lmao. Man, you sure talk about the past ALOT! No, there’s no confusion here on what you meant. We’ll have to see who has the brightest red asses after tomorrow night

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
You know that it's quite possible for me to call Machado a douche, but at the same time recognize that he has been one of the best third baseman in my generation?StinkyPinky23 wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 9:18 am “How about that high IQ base running by Machado?” Ray Charles could read through your intent with that question. That base running also shows how smart of a player he is. Is he still a douche? Yes. Is he one of the best 3B in baseball? Yes.
They're not mutually exclusive. I can not be a fan of a team or a player, but still recognize when they make a good play. I guess that's why I consider myself a baseball fan first, and then a Dodger fan second, and not the other way around.
Why do people tend to see life in black and white (right and wrong), when life is not full of absolutes and shades of grey exist? Must be rough.

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
That's a fun series. The Tigers never got the spot light that they apparently deserved this year, and seemingly 'snuck' their way into ALDS.
Any affiliation to the Tigers? Are you a Detroit native?

Possibble? Sure. Highly unlikely, though. Fan first, Dodger fan second? Only for the sake of arguing your last post. Your entire tone from the first post has clearly been Dodger loving first. Nothing you’ve said has leaned any other way. That’s just, well, an absolute

Again, reading comprehension isn't a strong suit for you. You still are arguing that because the team I root for is the Dodgers, there's no way I can give props to other players from other teams. I can understand that, coming from a Padres fan.StinkyPinky23 wrote: Fri Oct 11, 2024 2:06 pm Possibble? Sure. Highly unlikely, though. Fan first, Dodger fan second? Have a good time watching Game 5! May the best team win.

Good luck next year, Padres.
