I fished the surf south of Crystal pier from about 7-9am this morning. Wave action was much lighter this morning. Grass and kelp remains minimal. Caught 4 BSP, a couple good sized around 10-11 inches.
The fish had a strong preference for soft shells today. It’s common for me to get a hit, then nothing else, so I reel in and check my bait to find the roe bitten off my sand crab. Today that happened only once. I could soak a crab with roe for 15-20 minutes without action. But a soft shell, with or without roe, would get bit in less than 5 minutes.
