9/26 Barrett??
I got to San Vicente early and was very excited to be able to try out my brand new/old motor on my boat. Got her launched without a hitch and was estatic to find hat she got on plane and handled terrific. It seemed like only seconds before i was at the Barona arm. As i was pulling in a few busters were boiling and I picked up my bfs rod and started throwing gunfish and picked off a couple small ones on top. I got to the trees and seeing no more boilers a switched it up to jigs, but only managed one small jig fish but donated at least 3 jigs in the finesse variety to the ravenous god of San Vicente Lake. The sun had just peeked its head over the horizon and I saw busters all along the shoreline. in my hand i was looking to throw a Wagasaki bfs topwater but now realizing these fish were in the stick ups and that I had just purchased one bait (wagasaki) for 28 bucks including shipping i cursed and tied on a gr pumpkin thin senco. For the next two hours it felt I had somehow been transported to Barrett. I caught at least a dozen bass in that one area all on pitching sencos into the middle of those stick ups as the fish were munching the baitfish. I was really wondering where all the rest of the fishermen were being the only boat besides one other that had disappeared to back of the arm. by 9 the sun now was on the water and bite tapered off so I are a pnut butter sandwich and some watermelon and praised my decision of getting that motor with electric start . I cruised aound the lake and and it was getting warmer so i decided to fish the back side of the island. No love there with the gunfish or wagasaki or jigs or sencos. And I was reminded why i never listen to that old phrase never leave fish to catch fish. I went to the toll arm and to also get some small fish while dragging a dropshot with old school power bait worms black with chartruese tail over deeper points. I was off the water by 11 as it was being infested with wake boarders and the sound of blaring bad i think new rock and roll music I know it wasnt classic rock. I ended the day with about 2 dozen bass mostly in the 1-2 pound range which made the score better 22 to 7 my favor over sv god and lost lures. I included a few pics but would have got more but i was having too much fun. A great day at San V is much like a mediocre day at Barrett. Super fun day !!!

Great report! Was just having the conversation yesterday which SD lake is most like Barrett. The V was definitely a top vote getter.

Been holding off on San V until the weather cool and the lake lice start to thin out. Hate that they buzz the shoreline and blare their music when on the water.

San V was made to eat jigs, between the rocks and trees down deep, you need to bring a couple dozen jigs. San V is confused now, the fish should be out in the middle chasing bait..not in the stickups! The fish are a little skinny now, takes alot more silversides to fill them up! The shad use to plump them up better...along with the DFG trout. I miss both of them!1Fishdude wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:36 pm I got to San Vicente early and was very excited to be able to try out my brand new/old motor on my boat.
