Nice To Get Out

Post by Midnightpass »

Not much of a report, but I manged to get out to Alamitos Bay Peninsula for the 1st fishing in over a month.. It was only going to be a short trip, 'cause I'm still trying to shake a bug I caught... I was using some ghost shrimp I bought at Big Fish in Seal Beach... 1st cast and the shrimp didn't even hit the bottom... Nice, a YFC.... Wide open or 1st cast curse??? ... Mostly 1st cast curse... I only caught 2 more fish... One another YFC, and the other a nicer grade sargo... I had something pecking at the bait like a BSP (There aren't many at this location), so I baited up and tossed to the same spot.. Again the pecking, then hook up... I knew it was no perch by the way it fought, but couldn't figure what it was, until I beached it... The 15" sargo put up a pretty nice fight... Any way that was it, except I saw a group of 5 with a bunch of rods out, and 1 woman was catching some nice fish... I walked over and visited for a bit, and found out that this lady was a 1st timer with her group... And she out fished them all... She had a donkey SFC, that I saw her catch... They were using fresh mussell...

A couple of nice ones Butch . . . particularly the sargo. They're still on my bucket list.

By the way, every time I open one of your posts, I'm impressed as hell with that giant bean in your avatar !

Sounds like a fun outing, Butch. Those sargo are scrappy fighters. It's almost like that croaker was playing center field and ready to catch your long cast :)

Yup... It was fun Mike... Maybe I should take fishing lessons from that newbe fisherwoman. ;) .... Or it might have been just the mussel that she was using... ...

Thanks Vern… I don’t get sick a lot, but it always seems to lodge in my chest… Hard to shake the cough, and get your energy back… But I’ll live. ;)….
