Fishing for Quality 9-1
After consulting the regulars and reports, the plan was to go deeper for more quality over quantity today. Brought my floating Garmin Striker to watch our depths and it definitely seemed like the fish in 15-20 were better. The calm glassy morning in Pine kicked out nice ones mostly on 4” senkos. My topwater buds will be happy to hear I stayed with a buzzbait long enough to bag a decent one. The minnow wasn’t hot then but it played a bigger role later. Plenty of dinks shallower but those will be great fighters in the next year or two.
At about 9:30 we headed for Hauser. We tried the hot banks of last trip and they were just ok. By that time there was just enough breeze to drift and dead stick the minnow and we started steadily adding to our count. Think it was about 10:30 or so when the schoolies went off in the big bay all the way back and we tagged many in the +/- 2lb range. They weren’t really busting but grouped up and aggressive just below the surface hitting our swimming baits. We actually discovered them somewhat by accident trolling between stops.
Pulled in the lines at noon and total for the day was 50 and definitely a bigger average fish. Next and last trips are the 14th and the 22nd. Can’t wait and then it will be the long off season to get through once again. Gotta love Big B!!

I believe that one was 3-8. We had number of them that size off one inconspicuous point in Pine right at the 15ft line. A fun 10 minute span.SjW wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 4:40 pm Nice job, both are nice fish especially that fatty on top. Did ya get a weight?

Nice job out there!
Looks like a fun time and love the pics.....especially the first one of you and that bass but seems it
needs a caption above it to say..... "Heck Yeah!"
Tight lines always and thanks for sharing.
