San Clemente 7/26

Post by Midnightpass »

Last day of fishing was still pretty slow, as the conditions got better.... The swell was down in the AM, but picked back up later in the day, but the wind and snot stuff was better... Managed 6 medium size BSP but no sign of corbs or croakers... Packed up and left yesterday so I'll be fishing NOC for awhile now... I hope the fishing is better up here... It was a fun camping trip with the family and some friends... We've been doing this SC group camping trip for over 50 years, and still enjoy it... Though at 76, it's getting a little hard on the body... Especially climbing that darn hill up from the beach... I won't miss that hill at all :x ....

Been slow in SD past week as well . . . lower water temps back into 60's not helping. A few corbina picked up here & there but small, likewise some small yellows. More sting rays than anything else ! Going to give it a go tomorrow so we'll see. Hope you get into some at OC.

Yea. I think the cooler water has slowed down the fishing everywhere.... Speaking of sting rays... Three guys were playing at learning to surf (in the no-surfing zone) when one of them got whacked by a ray right next to where I was fishing... Life guards hauled him away a soaked his foot in hot water.. My 18 yr old Granddaughter thought he was being a big baby and just stepped on a rock or something... She didn't have much use for these 3 surfer wannabes. ;) ....

Surf angler's revenge ! why is it that some surfers will deliberately enter the water right where you're fishing when 50 yards either side is clear ?

Thanks Mike.. It’s been fun, for sure… Actually, I’ve been going there for for over 60 years, but it started being a group family/friends trip around 50 years ago… It has evolved… Sometimes more people, sometimes less.. The group has been getting smaller lately… Deaths, kids growing up and moving away,… And harder for the older, 1st generation (Me  ) to camp and climb that hill.. They’ll probably find and bury me 1/2 way up that hill someday. ;)
