7/8- Miramar fun and done!

Post by VinnyBass »

Loaded my kayak up and hit Lake Miramar on Monday. It was overcast, the water was high and caught my first bass on top
which was a nice start. I started to catch bass on a topwater bait and in between a few bass that could not find my treble hooks.
Anyway everything was going well as I began to pick up some bass and a few healthy bass and then the fun ended. Suddenly I have flu
like systems and started sweating like crazy. I just landed another nice bass and felt even worse and the fun had to end as I need to
get off the lake and headed home well before noon. I have been in an out of a fever and haven't been able to eat anything. Sorry this is
not much of a report but I just wanted to try to get this post out....better late than never.
I ended up with 11 bass(mostly clones)and had 5 come unbuttoned. It was a lot of fun while it lasted and really bummed I got sick.
(Mcfish said maybe it was some of that reclaimed water that did a toll on me.....ha ha)

Just a couple few pics

Ben there, done that. Coming down sick on the water is a bummer, and even worse if you see your boss on the water also, and you are supposed to work the late shift in retail. It isn't very convincing, if he saw you fishing earlier and then you called in sick!

Do you always do this well or only when you are coming down with a virus? Miramar has a reputation as hard to fish. Seems like you haven't been catching this many fish lately. Maybe we should come over and get the virus you have. Covid? RSV? Flu?

A good day fishing and feeling sick beats slow fishing and feeling well?

Thanks guys for the kind words....and I usually almost never get sick so the last few days had been crazy. Not Covid, but constantly
in and out of a fever and not being able to eat for days. This evening I managed to get some soup down and feel a little bit better
today. Had fun fishing on Monday while it lasted and I lost close to 5 pounds if I count that as a highlight.
I actually sent the pic below out to a few friends the other daywith a cool wash cloth on my face hoping it would not be the last pic of me. :-)

Again thanks to all of you and tight lines always.

Brother and I checked out Miramar this morning. That lake will probably never be in my regular fishing rotation if I’m honest. A lot of the reason I go fishing is for the peace and quiet - being able to hear every conversation every soccer mom walking around the lake is having doesn’t really fit with that goal lol.

We found a couple worm fish. Between the lack of bite and the lack of quiet out there it feels like a wasted morning kind of. Was hoping it’d turn out to be a good alternative for weekend days when Cap and Otay are in tournament purgatory, but… not so much. How it goes sometimes. Least I know for next time around

Lets go fishing
Haven’t gone fishing in 12 days which is probably a semi world record for me ha ha …but I’m feeling a lot better thanks. Unfortunately then been limping around but hopefully getting to the tail end of plantar fasciitis on my left foot. I can’t wait to get back on the water. I have been going stir crazy being at home and surprisingly, I haven’t ordered tons of tackle on Tackle WareHouse site…. Ha ha
