Seaweed down, surfers up

Post by Zhao »

Seaweed was forbidden for the last few weeks, at least for the spots I usually fish. I hauled many giant piles up, even broke my Uglystik Bigwater rod... The only upshot was that those sessions were fine workouts.

This weekend the seaweed was more accommodating. They were still there, but I can sink my bait for 10 minutes before getting worried.

It was all good for an hour or so then... surfers came... en masse. They surfed towards me, right cross me, paddled out in front of me, then someone asked me to move because "there are surfers here". Dude there are fishermen here, too! I'll make sure to not hit you guys when casting, but then it is up to you.

Ok, no happiness in ranting. The session was, by all means, fine. Got to practice "how to get fish out of the rocks" challenge several times. Lost some but landed a few.

...and, don't forget to pick up the phone and give your mother a call. It's her day 8-)

I highly doubt if there is any mother that visits this message board. But if there is, happy Mother's day :-)

I didn't realize how big those fish were until I looked at the tape measure... nice going!

Thanks man! Haven't seen your post here much. Have you been fishing somewhere else?

It was a sargo. I took the picture a while after catching it and its color has changed by that time. Otherwise you would see that dark stripe.

Just been busy with family. My wife hurt her arm and is in a cast, so I'm on kitchen duty and no fishing for the next few weeks.

Thanks Butch! I fish mostly in the rocks. Once in a while I hit the sand, but this year SC is less available. I was at North TP Beach a couple days ago and could not find a single SC bed...

That's too bad... They've been popping up like crazy up here in NOC... Heading down to Pacific Beach in a couple of weeks, and am hoping that they will be available...
