A spring day on San V...not!
I got to the lake at 6:15, under dark, cold, cloudy, drizzly skies..which pretty much remained that way for the next 6 hours!! The lake seems about a month behind with the unseasonably cold spring we're having! I ended the day with 14 fish, mostly small males which I hadn't planned on fishing for! N...

Re: Otay- 100% FULL
Otay Michael could catch a frog or popper fish out of my birdbath! I expect him to show up at my koi ponds!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Maybe some truth to that good buddy. Got top last week at El Capitan and again today. I’m warming up the gunfish and poppers fairly well! Haven’t seen anybody else throwing top yet!! D...

I got to the lake about 6:30am, caught five bass real quick, all males cruising the bank, so i thought I would try for a few bluegill.
Caught six nice ones .

May 9- Lake Miramar
Knowing that 15 north morning traffic on a weekday gets crazy and going south in the late afternoon a lot worse, I decided to head up to Lake Miramar and put in a little fishing time in my kayak. Knowing that I need to make the most of my time on the water I quickly headed across the lake. I was tos...

Re: It's official
Algae die off from a severe algae bloom can suck up oxygen, doesn't have to be vegetation die off. As far as Upper Otay, if any insecticides or herbicides got into the lake, some of those are highly toxic to fish too. Upper O was great in its day for float tubers, wish they would restock it. It's a ...

Can you believe it? San Vicente Jun 5th
Hard to believe that today was my first time out this year. After going my whole life with excellent health, things have gone from bad to since I turned eighty. I really wanted to get out, actually I needed to get out. I got my boat out of mothballs and found that my trolling motor wasn't working. I...

Mission Bay 7/2
Did a brief 6 hour session this overcast Sunday without much todo. This was a break-in trip for the new SUP yak and it preformed well. Started off at the Ski Beach Boat Launch and fished my way (regrettably against an incoming tide) from Dana to Quivira without a bite. Eel grass is heavy around Dana...

Nature walk...with bass.
Sorry if the pics show up out of order...they go where they want, regardless of where I put 'em in the text. 20230702_172336[1].jpg Got that out of the way. Only 2 bass, saw a crap ton of 'em but they just weren't interested in what I was throwing. In a couple spots there were bluegill on the old ba...

What it’s all about.
Some of you guys have known me and my family for a while. We ALL fish. Well, we’ve been teaching my youngest (Isabella) how to use a proper spinning setup for the last year. She’s 6yrs mind you. She’s now become sufficient enough to cast, reel on her own. Just the basic worm set up. Mostly just dire...

Re: Murray AM
Heck, out of all the guys on SDFish, it seems like only a few go bass fishing based on the amount of actual new posts each week. I know that there are slow times for everyone when you may only catch one or a few small ones, but why not share it. I understand there are some guys who like to keep the...

7/24-Lake Miramar Dink-Fest
With intent to go to Murray for a morning session with my kayak, I found myself suddenly getting on 8 West and then heading up 15 to Lake Miramar. There was a recent posting on the SD City Lakes website that the lake was going to be closed to boats, kayaks and float tubes after July 4 for a while, b...

The original post was written by DJ Thrillz . Unfortunately it was lost along with the old SDFish forums. This is an amazing article that will help you catch fish in SD bay, so I figured it has to be re-posted here. The fishing in SD Bay is simply amazing. You basically have a buffet of fish to targ...

A couple at my Home Lake
Hit my home lake for a few hours on Saturday morning 8-5-23. Got on the lake at 6:00AM. 1st one on a Popper in shallow water. 2nd one on a drop shot rig in a little deeper water. Then had one break off heading under the boat, even though my drag was pretty loose. 2 more missed hook sets after that. ...
