Re: Lake Poway?
Thanks to both of you for the advice. I gave it a shot today ($3 why not), but it was not epic. Got a late start, there by 10 am which may have led to what followed. I walked about half way around the lake casting a variety of soft plastics and even tried the frog a bit with only one strike on the ...

End of a tough year for Sutherland!
20230922_062845.jpg 20230922_074842.jpg They're putting Sutherland out of it's misery this Sunday, shutting it down for the winter. It's been a long strange trip out there this year! Good days were almost nonexistent. Just when you thought it was changing for the better..it wasn't! We were hoping ...

Desert adventures 9/24
With my favorite local body of water holding a two day tourney for the weekend I decided to change up the routine and forego my normal Sunday AM trip in favor of hitting the desert canals.
Day started off great with my first Smallie catch ever on a crankbait. Got two dink largies on the same crank ...

Small Murray reaction bass
Just a short update that after some recent trips to Murray.....there are still plenty of small bass reacting to reaction baits.
While it is always nice to catch a healthy bass, it has still been fun trying different baits to catch these little buggers.
At least they are hungry.....ha ha. :-)

9/28 Back to SD River
After seeing a full moon last night I knew it may be tough, but decided to go fishing anyway. Did not feel like going to Murray again, so I headed out to the SD river. I worked a couple jerk baits and a crank bait for a while and no takers and then to a spinnerbait and still nothing. The surface was ...

My Murray.......
I know..everybody thinks Murray belongs to Vinny, but I'm here to reclaim it! Once I heard that Vinny was going to fish the River today, I saw my chance to take it back! I first fished the lake in 1962, so I've got some history! I got to the lake at first light, hoping to see some surface action ...

Hodges update
Well...this may end up being my last trip this year since they close end of the month but it was a good one (sort of).
Started the day at about 6:45 am with a lipless crankbait that I have always wanted to catch fish with...casts great, looks good in the water, everything but until today just never ...

A little El Cap action....
I haven't been to El Cap in quite awhile, been waiting for my favorite time of year! I started out throwing a small jerkbait, picked up 5 or 6 fish not far from the launch. When it slowed, I moved up to the north arm in search of breaking fish, but it was all quiet when I arrived! I worked some ...

Re: A little El Cap action....
I was going to go to San V this weekend with my son, so we'd be renting a boat. I haven't ever been to El Cap though. This is a great post to inspire a trip to El Cap. But, on the SD website there's no information on boat rentals. Does anyone know that they do rent boats ? I did try two different ...

Re: A little El Cap action....
Ok, thanks for the help, I'll head to San V. Haven't seen a lot of postings on San V on this site though. Doesn't anyone go there? And, yes, I know I am guilty of not going there. :)
Light line and small finesse baits. Sometimes up tight but many are found above the structure/cover (aka trees ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today
Forward facing sonar isn’t new, just for fresh. I disagree it’s taking technology too far. Go tuna fishing or walking big baits on pinnacles with and without one- Your opinion will drastically change. Haven’t got a chance to use one fresh but I watch that crappie fisherman in Oklahoma that now ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today
A few weeks back, I fished next to someone (starts with a V) who had FFS and I got smoked!! The fish were suspended around shad in 20'-35', and were rarely breaking, so I was pretty much blind to what was happening under the surface. I was in my tube and didn't have my 25 year old, $75 Lowrance fish ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today
I guess it just comes down to personal preference. I think it just takes things a bit too far, but who’s to say that it IS too far? I was excited to add downscan/ side scan graphs to my boat, as well as spot lock. All just tools to use. I just feel like FF is maybe too big of a piece in putting the ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today
I'm even "older school" at 68! I wish we could go back to 1965, when walking the bank and throwing a 4" purple Creme worm was as complicated as we got! Miss the good ol days!

Thursday on the V...
I mixed it up a little this week, instead of my normal Monday trip, I hit San V on a Thursday. I grew up fishing the V on Thursdays, so it was kind of like old school days. I got there at sunrise and set out looking for busters! It looked grim after I checked my first 3 or 4 normal areas, but my ...

10/20 Murray
All types of things been going on keeping me from fishing and recently had my boat serviced so went out for just a few hours mostly to test things yesterday. I have not fished Murray for a few weeks and since so just a quick report. There are schools of small bass chasing shad around the lake. Most ...

Wed. at Otay
Fished sunrise to sunset, first time doing that in awhile, and first time to Otay in awhile too. Fog was sooooo pretty that I found it hard not to stop and make some art with my camera.
Not many folks out today. Warm and sunny after fog burned off. BIte was tough, as I'd heard, but got into some ...

Not many people have been fishing or talking about Otay. Thank you Michael not only for the report, but sharing with us all those beautiful pics. Tight lines always
