Re: Nonstop Topwater & Jigs Action 6/16
Hey that’s not good! Now he has to share with everyone! I think we learned that in elementary school. But yes, you’re right that’s exactly what I was doing. Like I said I’ve never actually fished with the bait before or even seen anyone fish with it. I heard that they were good so I picked up a ...

Re: Nonstop Topwater & Jigs Action 6/16
Great day on the water with you. Thanks for the tutorial on jigs. I was so excited with that fish until he clearly knew what he was working with and wrapped me around a tree. I'm going to practice a bit more.
John, apologies. I will definitely fix that on our next trip. I actually bought a new ...

Re: Barrett Report June 19
Got out at 0430 with Chuck and Joe. Of course we all headed different ways, Chuck to a cove where he had success last week and I pedaled to Becky's cove. Joe passed me on the way to Hauser and that was the last I saw of him today. Air was a little chilly at 54F, slight wind, but water a pleasant ...

I always thought you need instant motion with the whoppers and choppers to keep them on the surface but Pourboy’s success the other day with intermittent sinks has me thinking.

It's kinda like chatterbaits. I see the cheap ones take a while for the blade to start vibrating. It's no wonder why the Jackhammer is the standard.Early release wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 3:48 pmWhat I didn't like about the imitators is that the blade portion didn't start spinning as soon as you moved it.

Still a good day albeit quick! This wind is likely going to alter our Sunday plan. It’s refusing to be calm

Yes, so the bay is the plan. But wind early makes the drifts too fast. I guess it’s still June but it seems like our calm morning windows have been very short this year.

Frogging in the thick cheese
Got to water with Dave @4:30, unusually windy but managed to get them on the crawler, a couple of 3 pounder.
Headed back to Hauser after Dave left and started with the frog, dragging it over the thick mat of cheese and when there’s a water opening the bass would explode on it. Gotta have braided ...

Re: Frogging in the thick cheese
Yeah, without braid I'd not of landed half my topwater bass either (hollow bodied and boot foot frogs). The slime covers most the underwater shoreline bushes, and they head right for it after hooksets. Thanks for the heads up on that pattern 619. Ended w/ 15, all top but one on a follow-up Senko ...

Re: Frogging in the thick cheese
Nice work Michael, those are healthy bass, only negative i have is trying to get all that moss/white fluffy flower that'd stick to the braid off. I guess you have to work for them.
