Re: Barrett Report May 11
We actually waited about half an hour for better light in that fog. Otherwise we may have met earlier and not in a good way. Borderbasser’s gnar descriptor is appropriate. As always, fun meeting up on the water and comparing notes!

May 12
Made my first visit to Barrett on Sunday May 12. Got to the kayak launch area at 4:30. The fog on the lake made visibility poor in the dark but it was getting lighter and lighter so it wasn't long until I didn't need my flashlight. Headed to Pine Creek to start the day, and per the recommendation of ...

Sunday May 19th
I’m sure some of the regulars had typical May Barrett days but we sure didn’t. The girl and I teamed up for 25 bass to 3lbs but it was a pick at best with no topwater or boilers to throw at. A far cry from our 44 last Saturday in a short morning session. My guess is the wind and cold, wet foggy ...

Sunday 5/19 Report. Jig bite was on!
https://youtu.be/UvXHdN2U4hE?si=0m_c7UvLqJI7BMku
I managed to get out on the water on Sunday with my buddy Brad. It’s always fun fishing with a great friend and we don’t get to do it nearly as often as we used to. But when we do, it’s like picking up where we left off last time, it’s always ...

You were spot on with the deeper bite. We enjoyed watching you two dissect that flat across from us, it produced for hours! We think the big one that finally broke Cynthia off after our Chinese fire drill was a hefty cat. Interesting that Brad got into one too.

Wed 22 kayak report
Got on the water with Dave @4:30, like last week it was foggy but today was much colder, went to Becky’s Cove hoping to reproduce like last week but it was tough. The fog and cold weather seems to hold them down, didn’t really get much until the sun came out. Went back to Hauser and got a nice 4.13 ...

Re: Wed 22 kayak report
Good job buddy. Late start as usual, only ‘landed’ 7, but biggest was w/ the frog. Same last week. Looking good for a great bite next few months.

Got to the lake at 6 today was a little chilly but not too bad.Parking however was a mess but was still able to get a decent spot. I usually hit the first cove but decided to head straight for hauser, flipped the edges of trees with no luck ... headed for the middle of the lake to deep crank but i ...

Been hitting the B pretty much all May with decent results. Today I took my cousin but we got too lazy to pump our tubes and decided to fish off the dock. It paid off pretty good. I got my share of crappie and this nice bass on a bluegill swimbait he got a decent one on a jig. It was pretty ...

Re: SATURDAY morning bite
100% ^^^ It can be hard to be disciplined to wait. Especially when they are chewing. Excitement can easily take over and when you hear or see the bite, it’s easy to instantly swing.
Well said the excitement gets the best of me everytime,
ima have to bend the hooks up a bit great advise
Also ...

Re: Barrett Report May 26
I'm not really sure if I like having panoptix, I don't use it much, and when I do, it's not the favorite to see fish moving away from your lure.
I think that's the most helpful aspect of forward facing sonar.
We went through stages on FFS learning. The first few weeks, we'd giggle like ...

You may have to slow down to whack those inactive Bass. Most of my hits on the jig were in the 5 seconds I let it lay there before barely moving it.

Great pics and topwater day!! C might have you on the I think I can” award…Monday at Otay she caught literally a 1” bass fry, tiniest thing ever, biting a 4” senko. I have no idea what it was thinking but it cracked us up. I really F’d up not getting that pic for the ages.
