A couple more close ups from yesterday back in pine. Don’t get your panties in a bunch, just a drive by no fishing unfortunately

When I fished it a week ago, there were fish in all stages.

Some were hard locked on beds, some were wandering the shallows with a mate.

Some were just making their nests, and some were guarding nests.

Water temp was in the low 60s, FWIW.

Had a lot of fun today at the Big B. I would call it quality over quantity. We still got about 60 between us that included a dozen four pounders and a nice five pounder. A lot of three pounders also. Met Dave and Joe and was on the water @4 am thanks to Jose getting the crowd in, it was busy.
Headed to Hauser and started with the popper in the dark and got a nice 5lb on the second cast. Top water was working all day for me, popper and crawler. Did find some busters on jb. Similar to last year ...

Few things i always have at barrett....basic tools,first aid kit,snake venom kit,emergency pancho, emergency blanket,lighter and a solar phone charger,you never what can happen at barrett or who will need it.

It’s the noise and slow twitch that gets them. The bigger crawler like the I-wing draws the bigger fish

3 clumsy guys fished from 5:30 to 4pm for approx 60+ fish. Most just under 2lbs. 16 over 2lbs with top fish at 3.5lbs. We got a few on the top but mostly later in the day. Good job in testing conditions! I have thrown an old jitterbug out there that your Crawler reminds me of. I can’t believe it doesn’t get slaughtered.

Try a bigger jitterbug or the pompadour crawler. The bigger fish seems to crush it better.
