Re: 7/24-Lake Miramar Dink-Fest

It’s actually a fun lake and the bass are pretty cooperative. Lots and lots of clones. With the bottom having lots of weeds/grass so the lighter the weight, the better you are if you use weights with plastics.
Free lining or wacky rigging a senko helps keep your worm above the weeds better. Of ...

Re: Any bass lakes or reservoirs with rental boating? :/

One caveat about San Vicente: if you’re not comfortable dealing with wake from ski boats, go on a Monday. They are out in force on the weekends and typically don’t have any consideration for anyone else on the water. It’s a miracle there isn’t an accident there every single weekend with those ...

8/2-Back to Lake Miramar

Last Monday when I was at Miramar I saw a few rumbles on the surface but had no topwater baits with me as I packed mostly worms and craw baits. A buddy also recently told me he caught a few on top this trip I packed a few topwater baits in my kayak. It was a little foggy when I arrived and headed ...

A couple at my Home Lake

Hit my home lake for a few hours on Saturday morning 8-5-23. Got on the lake at 6:00AM. 1st one on a Popper in shallow water. 2nd one on a drop shot rig in a little deeper water. Then had one break off heading under the boat, even though my drag was pretty loose. 2 more missed hook sets after that ...

Quick Sunday Morning Sesh at the V

Got in and out before 9:30 when the zoo showed up in force. Caught a couple of shoreline dinks then moved out to the 20ft zone for 3 bigger models. All caught on splitshot 4.5” roboworms.

Hey Dave its a babied 2007 that I drove out to Havasu to buy last year. Pretty simple but it definitely makes the lakes, bays, and kelps easier!

Re: 8/2-Back to Lake Miramar

Tubed Miramar Saturday morning in hopes of some top water action. Did not disappoint after about 2 hours after we launched we proceeded to kick across. About half ways across the water all around us began to boil and then all hell broke loose. Fired my Gunfish just over the boils and worked it back ...

8/7 Murray

Still did not see any topwater action......pretty strange as in the beginning of June it just started to go off and then pretty much died.
Drastic changes in the water levels definitely had some type of affect in the overall fishing as normally topwater action would be pretty
much wide open in the ...

8/9- Miramar again

With anticipation of hopefully more topwater action, I headed back up to Lake Miramar this morning with 3 rods rigged with
topwater baits and one with a small jerk bait. The surface was pretty glassy when I arrived. Finally a few small bass stirring the top of the
water. Everyone knows that by the ...

Re: 8/9- Miramar again

I think it was great you stuck with your plan and didn't go to finesse until the end. This year I have been forcing myself to use other lures and it's really paid off for me with poppers and stickbaits. I very much prefer the topwater bite, and I think I'm not alone there. :) Yesterday the ...

Hodges 8/5

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum, so I thought I'd post a couple of pics from my trip to Hodges reservoir last Saturday.

I caught 7 fish total. 1 early frog fish, 1 on a jig, a couple on Senkos, and the rest on 7" dropshot robowoworms.

Anyway, glad to be here on the forum.

Better than Last Week

Hit my home lake again on Saturday 8/12. Had a better day. Was able to boat 4 and had 2 missed hook sets on drop shot and a missed popper hook set. Also had 2 break off. Still a fun day at Sutherland, finally!

Re: 8/11- Missed opportunities are no fun

IMG_0523.jpeg The Fish that got away gave you a chance. Fish win sometimes too. I’m glad they throw us back. Some days they suck it down, other days they barely get it at all. Usually it comes down to correct size, profile, color. A small change can make a big difference. That’s the game we play ...

8/17-Lake Mur...I mean Miramar

Thought about Murray, but instead headed up to Lake Miramar again for a morning of fishing with my kayak. I figured I would try to go get'em while I can because after Labor Day, there will be no boats, kayaks, float tubes allowed on the water I was told as they will be working on a big water project ...

8/31- Miramar: One Last Time

With Miramar set to close to boats, kayaks, kayaks after Labor Day, for who knows how long, to work on a big project, I decided to hit it one more time. Water level had dropped since my last trip on the 22nd and when I arrived a guy pulled back too far after his buddy launched his boat and his ...

9/14- Return to the SD River

After picking up some dinks yesterday at Murray, I decided to try somewhere different this morning. With a slightly cooler weather forecast, I headed down to the San Diego river. Last time I was there was in early June and with no launch or permit fees...I figured what the heck. Not much was going ...
