Yeah, I know you guys are tired of my Lake Murray reports, but I tried to make it a little more interesting.
I decided to first try to catch a few bass on hard topwater baits. I put on a little Zara Puppy(Spook) since Dannicus , CorsoEnthusiast and a few others said to throw smaller baits. I ...

Hodges 8/28
Was heading over to Barrett but woke up late and since I was already packed up I made the short drive over to Hodges. There was not many people fishing and most probably stayed away due to the tough conditions out there. I made a beeline to the dam and started throwing cranks on my BFS set up. Got a ...

Tues 8/27
Took my good friend Randy (who is still new to fishing) out float tubing at Murray, hoping to get him introduced to some topwater action. He was really jazzed as he landed his first three topwater bass, one of which went 4.3 lbs. Sadly no picture though as he dropped it taking it off the scale.

Re: Hodges 8/28
If they keep taking water out, we might go shopping for all the lost lures. I swear that lake has more of my tackle than any.
It now owns my trick anchor and dive reel it was attached to. What a bonehead thing to do as im ordering a new one. First thing in the morning I was rounding the corner ...

Re: 8/30-SD River am
outstanding work! It's hard to not do the things that are working and try something else, but you sure showed it does pay off.
I think being a little hyper might also have something to do with it.
Besides, I have lots and lots of lures that haven’t touched the water in a long time and figured ...

San V
Been hitting San V a few times. There has been a lot of silver sides. Hard baits get me the dinks. Plastics get me a verity of sizes. Managed to land a Kitty over 20lbs. There is 1 spot that has been producing skinny ones. Not sure what is wrong or happening to them.

Murray 9/6
The topwater bite went off for a couple of hours today at Murray. Pulled in 8, all of them looked about the same. Nothing huge but still a ton of fun.
On a side note, I threw numerous topwater baits; poppers, walking baits, and even a fluke, and the only thing I could get them to hit was a small ...

Re: anglers need to hear and understand this...
The population estimates are 95% confidence intervals. So basically, there is a 95% chance the actual population is within the upper and lower bounds of the confidence interval. For example, this last spring we collected and marked 3,437 LMB larger than 12" from Lake Skinner over 4 laps around the ...

Thursday Sept. 12
Had an awesome topwater at Murray today! I didn't really keep count but landed somewhere near a couple of dozen. Most were 1-2 pounders with several dinks and the wannabe Godzilla bass in the 3rd pic! But hey, it's topwater and always exciting so I'm not complaining!

9/13- SD River surprise
I thought of going to Murray, but honest, I'm there so often that sometimes it gets old, even
when the fish are biting. It's been a few weeks since I fished the SD River so I thought what
the heck...and there are no permit fees so I
can use the money saved for more fishing tackle.
I was excited ...

That one rock
Is in the water now.
Hiked around with my dad for a bit, he caught several small bass on an inline spinner. I got none.
I could see a bass feeding frenzy that lasted a long time, but couldnt quite reach them from shore

Sept15 HODGES
Got to the lake early in the morning along with very few other anglers. Got the pontoon set up and off I went on my quest. Since we are heading into the fall I figured I would try to catch the bass with large jigs because I know they will soon be trying to gorge themselves ahead of winter. I was ...

9/19- SD River....snap!
Quick morning trip to the SD River and a quick lesson learned.......just leave the rod with mono at home. I usually just take 2 rods rigged with braid line and this morning took an extra rod with 12 lb mono. Heck,I figured that would be fine. Well, later I started flippin a Rage craw with it into ...

Lake Hodges 9/22
Hey all I I headed out to Hodges yesterday for three hours in the morning. I got there at 5:30 AM and was the second car in line. The gates didn’t open till after 6 AM and I was on the water around 6:30 AM. The water was way down from the last time I had been out there, and was color of bad gravy. I ...

Re: Lake Hodges 9/22
That’s awesome! Yes, the smell for sure. I went there not long ago and when I got out the car the the smell took me back to being 12 and playing around the lake. I didn’t make it all the way to the dam but by the floating bathrooms it was still dark water. I’m ready for the new dam for sure!

9/30-Cool it Vinny
Ok...I need to cool it for a week or two with my Murray fish reports.
I have done a bunch of Lake Murray reports recently and they are all starting to sound the same and repetitious even to me. And if they seem that way to me, they surely have become boring to others.
The report: the bite has been ...
