Public Comment on Proposed Lake Closures
It looks like the Public Comment period for the SD FY 2026 Budget Proposal will be at 6pm Monday May 5th. The chambers are on the 12th floor, 202 C Street. If you want to sit thru the whole session it begins at 9am. The proposal by the City for lake closures and fee increases is just not right. Hope ...

Public Comment...May 5th session
I attended the City Council session last night for Public Comment on the proposed changes to the 2026 City Budget. The place was filled to capacity with overflow in the media room. EVERYONE was fired up for their causes......so was I. Glad I got there early as I was one of the first to express my ...

Re: The Lakes
Woo.....woo Cowboy's the fight is still not over yet.....yes it was good news the Council voted( after there was 10 million dollars discovered) to "completely restore all proposed cuts". The mayor has what is called line item veto power, where he can cut anything he wants from the proposal. If and ...

Re: A spring day on San V...not!
The trees are always biting at San V!Early release wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 6:50 pm I was out on Sunday and pretty much had the same fishing experience. I was happy to see the fish I did, since it's my third time at San V and the other two times I only caught trees. I'm looking forward to it warming up, it's a nice place to fish. san V.jpg

Re: Dixon lake Bass report
Dixon was my favorite lake growing up. My dad would drop my brother and I off in the morning and we’d walk the bank throwing mostly split shot reapers and we always caught fish and have a good time.
Great report, I may have to pay Dixon a visit soon.

4/29 - El Cap
Took the Kayak down to El Cap this morning. With the water way up, I knew I had to be one of the first couple kayakers there or that now smaller dirt lot would be full and I’d have to drag my ‘yak across the parking lot.

Re: San V 4/30 report
San V is one of the few lakes that has been pretty consistent this spring! Good job getting on them! Weekends are about to change at San V, you won't be alone for long! Say hello to my little friend...the Wakeboarder!

San see 5/1/23 monday
Arrived at the lake 6:30 looked as if I was fishing a private lake, maybe 10 boats.
For a spring unheard of. Started chasing the bass, after 23 all cruisers it was time to move on,
Got on the red ear, spent the rest of the day catching them. If you like having a fish trying to pull the rod out of ...

Slow start to shore pounding bass
This year has been a bit slower with the bass bite from shore. I get into a decent fish here and there, but the bite has been very slow. The minute you skip a week you may miss out.

Back to Monday Fun day!
It took San V an extra month to get going, but it's on now! What a difference 2 weeks makes...got there at sunrise 2 weeks ago, 6 boats..today at sunrise, more like 30! First cast, lost a 6lber in a bush..bad omen, nope! I got into a solid pattern and didn't move more than 100' for the next 5 hours ...

May 9- Lake Miramar
Knowing that 15 north morning traffic on a weekday gets crazy and going south in the late afternoon a lot worse, I decided to head up to Lake Miramar and put in a little fishing time in my kayak. Knowing that I need to make the most of my time on the water I quickly headed across the lake.

Wrong Again!
I said last week that it seemed the bite at Sutherland was stirring. That judgment was premature! The bite, it seems, is again cold as ice. At least it appears that way to me and a couple of friends who will remain nameless unless they choose to chime in. Between us we caught 4 fish. Overcast early ...

Re: Wrong Again!
It was so exciting as I prepped my fishing gear days before my trip and was pretty confident it was going to be some great fishing despite the long drive up the lake. Besides a selection of proven worms, I carefully packed every bait that had been successful over the years and the whole drive there ...

Morning Run to El Cap 5/16
Postponed a cool windy Friday for a warm sunny Tuesday at El Cap…WRONG! This winter that won’t let go had the lake chilly and white capping by 10am today. It probably slowed whats been a decent bite but seeing the shad along the shoreline pushed us to throw spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and flukes over ...

5/16 Marvelous Morning at Murray
I have had some tough trips this year to Murray where I worked hard just to catch a couple bass(thank you for lowering, then raising the water, then lowering and then raising it a little etc, etc., etc.) Anyway...My last trip in the beginning of May showed a little sign of improvement. This morning ...

Re: Anyone have any hints on Diamond Valley Lake?
Light Line is the key at DVL. I wouldn’t be fishing anything above 7lb on finesse setups. Can’t go wrong with a drop shot there. Just make sure you have weedless hooks as the stick ups there can eat some tackle. I like the Roboworm Rebarb hooks. Check the backs of coves for late spawners and if not ...

Re: Anyone have any hints on Diamond Valley Lake?
They have some big striper in there that you can target on heavier gear although they're usually more keyed in on eating those trout. You can try trolling big trout looking rapalas or even bring frozen bait to try for catfish and or striper (forgot what the striper like; anchovies?) if you only have ...

Re: Anyone have any hints on Diamond Valley Lake?
If the wind picks up find the most windy back and fish a jerk bait. I’ve had some incredible days ripping 30+ fish off a windy bank.
