Re: The Cap is producing quality!

I completely agree. I like the baitcaster and I think I can cast it farther than I can with spinning tackle. I like the control and I haven't yet felt like I caught a fish I couldn't handle on that rod. Biggest one has been a little over 5 pounds, so I guess I may find some trouble at some point.

Re: Biggest Bass of the year so far!! Lake Hodges

Always great video work and that's a nice bass. Certainly would be a good personal best for all time even. Sorry I lost you in the fog. When I headed out, I kind of felt like I was pedaling a little longer than I should have been. I looked at GPS on my depthfinder and I was in the middle of the lake ...

Hodges report April 20

Hello all,

Had a nice day at Hodges this morning. Met with Pourboy in the parking lot and we headed out a little after 0600. Water temp was a toasty 67 F and wind was calm. Immediately Pourboy hooked a nice fish on a spinnerbait, I think it was one of his first couple casts. Then I got lucky too ...

Re: Hodges report April 20

Didn't think of the buzzers. Great way to cover water. Nice work at El Cap, that's another nice lake.

Re: Hodges April 21 report

Nice day, good report. Were they all on spinnerbaits or did you also have something else work? They seem to be opening a bit early lately. Last Sunday I think it was pretty dark when we all got in.

Hodges report April 24

Hello all,

Got out on Hodges early with a buddy. Water temp was 66F and wind was calm. Not a lot for the report. Went along the shoreline with poppers, dragged the bottom with crankbaits and other assorted things that didn't work out. Got three for the day. One early on the popper, one mid morning ...

Daiwa SS AIR TW Right SOLD

Up for sale, a used once Daiwa SS AIR TW 8.5R. It's a wonderful reel and I bought it from someone who gave me a good deal on it, so I thought I'd try a right handed reel. I am not a right handed reel person and this reel should be used a lot, it's really nice. It casts beautifully, it's just that ...

Re: Lake Hodges- Double Dipping!

Great to get out there with you. Sure was fun to get fish right away too. Have to appreciate your commitment to fish at dawn with me and then go teach, come back and fish for the evening. I want that kind of energy. :)

Hodges report April 27

Got out on the lake at first light. Have to say the lake had the feel like something was going to happen. Spoiler alert, good day, but nothing epic. Did talk to someone who pulled a 6 pounder on a 10" senko. Water was 66F, wind calm, skies were alternating between scattered and broken.

Got a couple ...

Barrett Report May 1

Well, made it to the opener and saw several pals. Headed out at something like 0415 thanks to Jose letting us get going early. Water temp was already 67F and wind was calm. Chuck (619Bassin) and I headed out together and were planning to go back in Hauser. I developed rudder trouble with my kayak ...

Re: Barrett Report May 1

Glad you were able to repair all and get back in on the action.

Thanks, I learned a little repair kit might be nice to have. I must have been a sight spinning around in my kayak in the dark at the shoreline trying to crimp a tube with my scissors while turning a nut with my multitool. I may ...

Re: 5/1-Tough morning/SD River

I read this and snorted. Like Jim, I do checklists, because well, old. But most of them are in my head, so there's the added fun of maybe not remembering the checklist, much less the checked item. It's good you went anyway and even got a fish.

Great report. I think it's funny you call that one pelican, the lonely pelican. I noticed him too and he was pretty good at fishing.

Re: Number of Fish Caught and Time

I'm not convinced that Barrett is a great "dark" lake, but it may be that I am not a great ( or even good) dark fisherman. Overall, the numbers are clearly there at Barrett, there's enough people who do put up impressive numbers but they do it over the course of the day. My experience is that you ...
