Ecstatic finish

After at least twenty five years of fishing at Barrett, I HAD to fish Wednesday, since I hadn't been all year. Just couldn't break my streak.

Started around 1:30 due to complications of getting there. Went across from the dock to where the dirt at water edge is a light brown, almost tan color. Got ...

Late yet epic!

There is all this bad news in the world, but there are many good people, and many good things happen. My morning got messed up, unfortunately got to lake at 3:15 p.m. Talked to three guys at my car who said they caught forty between them. Good chat. Then one of them came over and gave me a handful a ...

June 30 afternoon report

Too old to fish all day anymore. Not that long ago it was 7AM to 8PM. Now afternoons only.

Bass not feeding like they were last two times out, but got quality. Many days in my 30 years fishing Barrett I've had 40 plus days, but out of the 40 maybe 2 or 3 maxed at 2.50 pounds. Sunday my 1st fish ...

Re: June 30 afternoon report

Answers to questions: Caught them 15 to 20 feet deep. Yes, mucho moss. Had to clean off hook and split shot after nearly every cast. A real downside to the drop-shot, got very tedious. But worth it. I am still shocked at the quality of the bass. And yes, those bluegill can get really big!

Note. 1st ...

Re: June 30 afternoon report

Oops. Didn't answer the wind question. Was concerned on the drive out to Barrett. Trees were whipping back and forth, flags were flying. But once down in the gorge that is Barrett Lake, there was wind, but nothing serious. By 430 the wind was there, but made for an almost perfect drift where I was ...

So thrilling!

Got to lake late (midafternoon). Weather perfect. I asked a couple of guys how it had been, and they said a lot of little fish. Sure enough, I saw small bass everywhere. In a couple of years, watch out! Hit the initial big rock north side of Hauser. Got constant bites fishing that bank, drop ...

Probably a dumb jig question.

I'm not a bass fishing expert like many of you. About all I know how to do well is drop-shot roboworms. From 230 to 730 Wednesday afternoon, I landed 43 bass, 20 of them not larger than a banana. I must have tied 15 palomar knots, often losing my hook and worm to an underwater tree or bush. And ...

Re: Wednesday 17 report

Wow. 6.2. I fished for 4 1/2 hours Wednesday afternoon. Caught 17, a few 3-pounders, a few 2-pounders, and several 1-pounders. All senkos and roboworms. Mostly Hauser. Went to end of Hauser. Weird. All of this growth about 3 feet below the surface for several hundred yards. No action. Very cloudy ...
