Re: Show us your goldfish!

Forgot this one....

For scale, the bluegill in the pic was about ten inches long...the bass and goldfish were just following it around after it was hooked.

Great price on baitcaster....

Not sure where to put this...

On Amazon right now (Feb 14th) you can get a Daiwa CC 80 (righthand) for $47.56 and free shipping.

Small, palmable body. Holds up to saltwater use (even though it doesn't have stainless bearings). The mag brake thingy actually works, and can be cranked up to help ...

Atmospheric Riverdance

Wanted to do a tide ride along the Coronado side of the big bay on Monday. Storm won't be here 'til Tuesday, right?

So I tied up some stuff and was ready to go.

Plan was to leave the truck near Crown Cove, portage to the Cays, and ride the tide down the bay, getting out ...

Re: C&R gone too far?

"Who is managing the fish populations?"
Bass are cockroaches, they never need stocking. The only managing needed is the harvest of a lot of fish if a water tank levels remain constant for a few years in a row.

"if we convince people to take more bass home, what happens when the Water Authority ...

Re: C&R gone too far?

"The Japanese government considers black bass a nuisance species. On Lake Biwa, which could be called Japan's Lake Champlain (165,000 acres, max depth 340 feet), anglers aren't permitted to release largemouth bass. All must be kept and killed. And authorities began an extirpation and hazing program ...

Re: Float tube essentials....

Here's my gear list for tubing in general. I have another list specific to Barrett....
Seems like a lot but it's mostly small stuff.
And some of it stays in the truck (dry clothes, Crocs, towel) unless it's a tide ride/portage trip.

And depending on where you're headed....knowing the location of ...

Re: Hook size for surf C-rig

For the c rig, I use a #6 mosquito and tie a snell knot. That’s for the gulp sand worm and sand crab.

To answer the question, I also use a #6 mosquito, but with a Palomar knot. Snelling would probably work as well or better.

Click away here or pack a lunch, I'ma chew this fine....

Re: Soupfin(?) at TL

That's a pretty decent smoothhound. There are two species; Gray and brown. The browns have sort of a coppery color that aren't like other sharks. And I think the grays' dorsal fin is more transparent.

SoBay Tube day...Okay....

Fished with Gotfish in the South Bay.

I got 17 spotties and one corvina.

Pic for attention:

20240105_183458[1].jpg

The small greenish ScorcherZ tube baits got most of the fish, a few bit a texas-rigged powerbait grub in a candy corn color. Nothing on the bucktails, underspins, tailspins ...

Re: DIY Rod Tube holder advice needed

Berkley plastic rod holders

The Berkley holders are good...and generic versions can be found online for even less money.

As for the boot tray mod for the apron....I bought 2 trays (cheap as dirt on amazon) but haven't got around to installing.

It looks like you bolted to a piece of PVC to use ...

Re: New Low for Dolphin Half Day Boat

Move it to the lounge.

Look, people taking legal limits shouldn't be an issue. It costs a lot of money to go out for a half-day, and keeping legal limits helps offset that cost.

And slamming someone who fishes half-day boats because they don't have whatever skill or time or what method you think ...

Re: New Low for Dolphin Half Day Boat

1. There are far more corvina in the bay than people think. 2. MLPAs are the reason a sportfishing boat has to stay in the bay. The "protection areas" were selected by a political process, not a scientific process. Calling for more MLPAs without fixing the corrupt process by which they are selected ...

Cumberland tubes on sale from mfr...

Word on the street is that Classic Accessories is getting out of the float tube / pontoon business. It would appear so...with Cumberlands marked down to 157.95...plus 40 bucks shipping.

They are a very good float tube, but replacement bladders have been nonexistent for a while now. \

I really ...
