Hit the SD river this morning around 8 am and it took just over 2 hours before I got my first bite on a brushhog that I tossed in between
sunken branches and the shoreline. Set the hook and enjoyed about 5 or 6 seconds of a nice fight and suddenly the bass came off. I mean I had tension on him and ...

12/3- Two for Tuesday/SD River
Yeah....even though I normally stop fishing the SD river in early November each year, but it’s
December....I decided ah, what the heck!
The water no doubt has cooled down so this morning I worked crank baits and blade baits as slow as I could which is not easy as I tend to work baits like it is mid ...

12/13-Bad to Better/SD River
While sipping my 2nd cup of coffee around 8:25 trying to stay warm, I suddenly decided I wanted to go to the SD river. As I was gathering gear pretty quickly , I knocked over the box of terminal tackle loaded with tons of different size hooks, all types of weights, Tokyo rigs, Ned rig jig heads ...

Success at Otay!!!
https://youtu.be/FSARziSc2ak
Thanks all for the recommendations on where to fish on Sunday. I did end up going to Otay and met Corsoenthusiast (SP?) out there. Shortly after the sun came up we and about 30 of our closest boats, tubes, yaks and shore guys were on the fish. It seemed that everyone ...

Otay 12/22
5 bass today at Otay. 4 of them were 1.5 to 3 lb clones and the largest went 5.4 lbs. All of them were on a chatterbait. I went to Otay arm to try hover strolling but there was really nothing going on there. None of the boats, yaks, or tubes reporting much success so I started working deeper ...

Murray 12/23
Well I worked the first 3 hours yesterday at Murray and only managed a couple of small 1.5 clone bass. So I pivoted and broke out the BFS gear and rigged it with a tiny chatterbait. I managed 18 of these and even continued picking up the occasional clone bass here and there between .

Amazing Murray Story 12/27
I got on the lake just after the gates opened and had basically circumnavigated it by 10 am. I caught a few of the usual clones and bluegill and decided to head back to the launch ramp to warm up a bit and relieve myself (because I suspect peeing one's waders is ill advised).
As I approached the ...

Re: Amazing Murray Story 12/27
Jigging Rap was introduced in 1961. I love it when an old timey nearly forgotten lure kicks butt of new lures.

The Captain 1/14
I woke to a text yesterday from VinnyBass reminding me that it was the second Tuesday of the month and Murray was closed. Lucky thing too or that's inevitably where I would have headed. I pivoted and decided to head to El Capitan instead.

Just checking in once again.... I have been going down the big swimbait rabbit hole as of recently..... alot more boring nothing happens kind of days. However, with dedication and the willingness to learn. I found some success, some 5lbers, a 7lber, and a New Years Day 13lber. She was weighed on the ...

Hood (Baby) Hawgs
The clock hadn't hit 11 am and Edna from Accounts Receivable had gotten on my last nerve. Usually this happens around 3 pm, but this was a new record for her. All morning, she had been asking ME , the Sr Project Manager, when we started billing a new client of ours, when SHE , the head of Accounts ...

Re: Hood (Baby) Hawgs
Hilarious. Where's all the yokels though?
Better hope Edna doesn't go on sdfish, she will hunt you down. Nice catch.
All the yokels where winding up their lines and making the walk down towards me. One of them was nice enough to take the pics.
And Edna? This is the same individual who opened ...

Of Lost Swimbaits and Near Decapitations
I know a guy who fishes the pond who is one of those "I Only Throw Swimbaits" guys. He eats, sleeps and $hits swimbaits. A few days ago, he had made his way down from the parking area, with what seemed to be yet another gargantuan sized plastic swinging from the end of his 9 foot setup. He began ...

Few bites, A few fish and 1 biggin. But not the right kind!
This is a view of the dang thing hanging around 15' for ever.
Another surprise was the water temp up 3 degrees from last Wednesday.
Oh and ignore the fat neck.

2/5-Mixing it up Deep at Murray
"Blades, Ice Jigs & Spoons..oh my!" was the theme today at Murray. Decided to give it a go after some inspiration by yesterdays post by Dannicus. Fumbling around at home I did not get on the water till around 8:45.I tossed a few swim baits near the ramp and shoreline but it already started to warm ...
