7/31-More Fun...Murray
Months ago,I got a Jackall Gantarel Jr as part of a deal selling a rod and it has never touched the water. While waiting for my buddy Larry to launch his boat I made a few casts near the boat ramp and was surprised when a small bass slammed it. I was amazed a small bass would hit it and yet so ...

Hot weather… hot bite?
Otay has been a lot of fun this summer. Bait is all over and those fish are hungry.
Spent the first 6.5 hours of the day down there this morning and it was a little of everything. Got a topwater fish before I even put my tube in the water. Pulled up to the bank and there were busters in the cove 6 ...

Re: Sept 19th...and a new lure for me
That's awesome! Thanks for the tip. Do you tie the leader on directly or use a snap / swivel? I use snaps for ease of lure change, but I'm guessing it might be quite better to direct tie. I'm sure someone will tell me to tie directly as I'm missing bites with the extra tackle. I just need to work ...

9/24- Miramar
A lot tougher this morning than my other trips to Miramar this year where in past trips things were going off.
The water was glassy and looked like an oil painting with the lack of any type of action on the surface. I tried to drum up some action on the surface using a Gunfish, then a Sammy and ...

Greeted with cool conditions in the morning at Murray.

Around 9:00, the bass were starting to chase shad across the surface. Mixed it up with lots of reaction type baits and bottomline the clones were on the chew. Fished for a while next to my buddy Larry as bass were ...

10/31-PB SD River bass
Decided to skip a trip to Murray and headed out to the SD river. Got there around 7:30 and there was even more surface area covered with a green film than last week. I imagine that with some good winter rains it will be able to flush out a lot of this yucky green water. On the positive side, after a ...

Productive bait Murray 11/1
I found another versatile BFS bait that has been working well for me. Today I Caught several bass and bluegill on a Shimano World Crank 73F. The best bass was just over 4lbs.
It's an interesting bait, sort of a cross between a crank and jerk bait. It suspends so it can be worked like a jerk bait ...

Re: Anyone ever fish Olivenhain Res?
FIshed it with the shock boat shortly after it was filled. We determined it was mostly silverside, bluegill and green sunfish. We went to Hodges a couple weeks later and relocated about 50-60 FLMB into Olivenhein to balance the ecosystem.

11/21-SD River am session
Have not fished the SD river since Halloween which is scary, but been pretty busy and was out of town for a bit. Went down for a morning session and morning it was as I arrived at around 8:30 a.m. The water was even greener than last time and started off working a number of reaction baits(crank ...

Strollin' Otay
Otay has overtaken El Cap as my favorite local body of water this year. Hadn't been in a few weeks and decided to make an early morning run in the tube.
Got in the water well before sunrise and was greeted by some busters and an early catch on a small subsurface walking bait. Threw a 110 Jr for ...

11/25-SD River was tough
Hit the SD river this morning around 8 am and it took just over 2 hours before I got my first bite on a brushhog that I tossed in between
sunken branches and the shoreline. Set the hook and enjoyed about 5 or 6 seconds of a nice fight and suddenly the bass came off. I mean I had tension on him and ...

Yeah....even though I normally stop fishing the SD river in early November each year, but it’s

12/13-Bad to Better/SD River
While sipping my 2nd cup of coffee around 8:25 trying to stay warm, I suddenly decided I wanted to go to the SD river. As I was gathering gear pretty quickly , I knocked over the box of terminal tackle loaded with tons of different size hooks, all types of weights, Tokyo rigs, Ned rig jig heads ...

Thanks all for the recommendations on where to fish on Sunday. I did end up going to Otay and met Corsoenthusiast (SP?) out there. Shortly after the sun came up we and about 30 of our closest boats, tubes, yaks and shore guys were on the fish. It seemed that everyone ...

Otay 12/22
5 bass today at Otay. 4 of them were 1.5 to 3 lb clones and the largest went 5.4 lbs. All of them were on a chatterbait. I went to Otay arm to try hover strolling but there was really nothing going on there. None of the boats, yaks, or tubes reporting much success so I started working deeper ...

Murray 12/23
Well I worked the first 3 hours yesterday at Murray and only managed a couple of small 1.5 clone bass. So I pivoted and broke out the BFS gear and rigged it with a tiny chatterbait. I managed 18 of these and even continued picking up the occasional clone bass here and there between .
