Re: New Angler Seeking Gear Recommendations – Help Needed!
Regardless of gear, be sure to rinse off all your gear and tackle after each trip. Otherwise it is going to corrode, sometimes enough to be worthless even before the next trip. If you change the hooks, sinkers, lures, etc. then put the old ones in a plastic bag and rinse them out too when you get ...

Re: New Loveland Updates
The buckets of smaller fish that have been put into Loveland will spawn next year (if they aren't already getting busy). Their success depends on whether the water district screws around with the water level next spring and summer. "Genetics" aren't needed; with warm water, consistent water levels ...

Re: SD Bay 1/20
You should have stayed for the rain. The bite just turned on when that happened. Had 5 fish in 6 casts when it started coming down.

Re: Willpower.. when not Bass fishing
So to lessen the odds of impulse buying, put those baits that look good on your wish list but don't buy them that day. Wait until after your next fishing trip on a sunny day. If they still look like you need them, then buy them then.
Of course, to defeat that strategy the baits will be on an ...

Re: Halibut Bite SD Bay
Nice video. No mediocre music in the background and good tips.
Replace the weight with a 1/4 ounce jig head and a curly tail or paddle tail grub and you get spotties in between the halibut, plus halibut will bite the grub too. And you can foul hook more rays if you are into that.

Re: DIY Rod Tube holder advice needed
I have the same tube. Mine holds 5 rods plus depth finder and has 45 degree holder for holding rod while unhooking fish or paying out line. Velcro straps to attach to side and T at bottom goes to a bungee. It is a hodgepodge that I have modified over the years.

Re: DIY Rod Tube holder advice needed
Yes and yes. Velcro is glued on one end and wraps around the skinny section. Bungee is 6’ long and hooks around T.

Re: SDFish Blog & Articles
Anyone can bite heads off Roboworms. It takes a real man to bite the head off of a live mantis shrimp.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason is people are stupid and make bad decisions.

I am just glad she hasn't discovered the joys of float tube fishing San Diego Bay. Wouldn't be able to find a place to park if she did.

Re: Crawdads vs. Jigs: Which Will Catch More Bass
In the book Knowing Bass , the author describes an experiment done at Berkley where they started with a plastic craw and did modifications to see what worked best. Re: Upper Otay??
I think the small fish along the shore are probably mosquito fish (gambusia), the county will stock them in stagnant water. I have been around the lake mountain biking and have not seen any signs of fish feeding on the surface which I used to often see before the big die off.

Re: Hand fishing for bass
I would keep a watch over it on weekends for poachers for Vinny. I would set up my float tube in the middle so I would have the best view.

Re: San V 2/18 Bees, busters and Bassholes!
Bass fishermen hating bass fishermen! FYI, float tubers and kayakers seem like the nicest people on the water, at least in my experience. Maybe something about having to work to get to a spot makes the difference. And we couldn't make a wake if we wanted to.

Re: 2024 Barrett Lake level
There are some small lakes to the north of Barrett off Skye Valley Road, also in the photo. I am assuming these are on private property and not in Cleveland National Forest. Anyone know anything about them?
