Cals or Shimano drag grease . Blue marine grade grease on gears and for coating parts . Bearings get 0-20 oil which the blue bottle 3 in one is . . Clean and lube often is the key , particularly after a salt water dunk . Note , Cals is good stuff and I know people that use it for all grease needs . ...

San Gabriel Mts/ South Fork trout fishing( video)
San Gabriel Mountains South Fork Trout action( video). With all the recent rains this year, this area should be prime for a fall trip and its only around 2 hours away Off I-210. Back when I did this trip, I managed 5 or 6 in a few hour session all on Berkely Power worms. It would also make for a nic...

Re: Struggling to catch leopard sharks from shore
Try half a mackerel and stay away from squid. When we used to use squid we ended up catching a lot more rays than leos. It'll happen, good luck

Re: Struggling to catch leopard sharks from shore
I have only caught larger leopards inside the bays. Seen 'em in the surf, but haven't caught a big one there. In my limited experience (couple dozen sharks) a fresh caught fish gets picked up more often; never got a decent sized leopard on a bait that had been frozen. The current all tackle IGFA leo...

Re: Struggling to catch leopard sharks from shore
Cut bait only, stay away from squid. Looks like you have the right set up. Do not panic if you get one on, take your time don’t set the drag too tight etc. Might loose a few before you catch one. It’s all a learning process. I’m catching them in Oceanside and I’m sure they more concentrated more sou...

Re: Struggling to catch leopard sharks from shore
Fresh bait is key. Old mackerel like most of the ones you buy from tadckle stores with brown, mushy meat is terrible shark bait. Either catch some from a pier and use same day/within a week or two if frozen, or catch a small perch, croaker, or corbina at the beach and cut it up. You don't need to go...

Gonna have to be past the summit by 7 am to avoid the shuttle. The road to the postpile is open but the camp...
